Ive been playing thru the Z-best with the g12h v30 combo. Btw love the tone. Yet today something fell infront of the speaker and i didnt see it till later. I was thinking the whole time I was playing wow this is great really smooth and nice. Removed the thing infront of the cab and it the highs and just kinda everything seemed harsh. It was the v30 that was convered up. I was just wondering how the g12m or the blue compares too the v30. Or if I should just get another g12h and run a duel g12h speaker combo???

In my opinion the V30 is always the culprit and it will ALWAYS sound better to swap it out for either a Blue (Celestion or Weber), a Gold, or another G12H.

Sounds like a Weber Beam Blocker might do you some good- it's "puts something in front of the speaker" to block the harsh highs of which you speak. I've got them in both my amps, and I think they're great. Cheap too.

How does the g12h blue combo sound in the zbest with the ghia? Most people will advise you that an AlNiCo speaker (the Blue) will sound best in open-back cabs.

I tried a Cele Blue in a closed back and it couldn't breathe, sounded overly compressed & constricted, but in an open back they are unparalled.

I tried beam blockers ehhh was 50/50 with them. I think it will be another g12h for me.

A 2x12 Greenback pair in open back pine cab works for me, but many would find it too midrangey. Interesting though, 2 things- I never find it lacks power or volume (many do- I wonder if that is a single greenback) and I never find the Ghia to be a bright amp (many have said it was- just speakers?)
