I just received a Rick Franklin modded Boss SD-1, and never having run a Boss unit before ( back in '86 or so I tried a DS-1 and it sounded SO HORRIBLE that I backed off Boss afterward) I wonder if those admonitions to use only Boss power suplies are worthy of concern or just Boss boilerplate. I'd have it on either a Furman SPB8 or running off a Godlyke on a small board, and all use the usual negative tip power connectors. These should be okay, right?

As long as its center-negative, 2.1mm tip and its supplying the correct voltage (9.6v) and amperage (about 200mA, your SD-1 will likely run on MUCH less though) you'll be set!

I heard some Boss boxes sound best with an ACA 12v power supply. They work on 9v but don't sound as good. I know this is the case for my CE-2 but I don't know about the SD-1.
