I've been wondering about that one. But a few things turn me off.
#1. AC Adapter #2. Jack locations #3. Size/Footswitches on box.
I think my need for Verb will end with a Tube Unit.

I know that it's an odd klunky box. You're right. The jack is in a strange place and their is a big wall wart. >:(The directions say that you can use use VL pedal power AC, but it doesn't take away the fact that it's klunky. I don't care about this because the only pedal I use besides the reverb, is an AC Booster.
I do have one issue though; the on/off switch for the reverb is very poppy. I guess if the verb is always on, it's not an issue.
I have a 3 knob tube reverb on a kendrick amp of mine and it sounds amazing. I don't like the Z-verb at all. Maybe Z should try a tube reverb in one of his amps. The store where I bought the Van Amps had a Fender and a Kendrick stand alone tube reverb unit. I never tried one, but if they sound anything like the verb in my kendrick amp, they might be worth the money, but maybe not.

I have a SoulMate with Maz18Jr NR and it is an AMAZING!!! sounding verb. Yes box is a bit "clunky" but gotta fit the srings somewhere!- Hence probably why plugs are located where they are. Tube is nice but SoulMate is simple and easier to truck around than a tube unit. Mine is off my pedal board so routing/plugs not an isssue wse. I do also use VL power and works fine. Lefty you may want to SBS the 2 units I think you might be surprised IMHO. Here is the key point I would like to mention- Mine had the pop sound (VERY noticable!!!)when I got it. I had one of the first few in production. Tim @ Van Amps was outstanding in his response and has a fix for the issue. Different True bypass of some sort with NO! loss of signal/sound or quality what so ever and the pop is totally eliminated! Call him and I'm sure he can explain in detail why this happens and will make the same upgrade for you as well. He may not be doing it on all units as it doesn't happen with all pedals being used with it. Hope my experiences will help! Jim

Is it an easy fix to stop the popping? It would be nice to get rid of the popping.

Tim did the mod for me @ N/C I'm sure he will do same for you. I don't think it is a difficult modification. I'm sure Tim would like to hear from you as far as what pedals you are using with the SoulMate. He was very concerned and interested in my situation and wanting to correct it to my total satisfaction. If it the same issue as I had you will not be dissapointed when it is corrected. Hope I answered you question. Tim can be reached at 763-529-1206 or vanamps@comcast.net- Good luck!!!

Matt, thanks for your support of the VanAmps Sole-Mate reverb pedal. Although I don't know the serial number of your Sole-Mate, it could be one of the few that were sold before the "POP" mod was designed and installed as a permenent fix in production. There were eight early Sole-Mates that were produced that did not have the mod installed. We will make every effort to see that you are completely satisfied with your Sole-Mate. Please contact us at 763- 529-1206 or email at vanamps@comcast.net.

Karma for the great info! I spoke with Tim, and we figured out that the Soul-Mate wasn't popping because of a bad switch or anything. The reason it was popping was because my Kendrick ABC Switcher doesn't have a ground lift, so I lifted the ground from one of my amps, and the problem was solved. Now I have no hum and no loud switches.
I highly recommend the Van-Amps Soul-Mate!
By the way, Tim over at Van-Amps couldn't possibly have been any more helpful! Great Guy!

Jim Do me a favor, if you don't already try the Sole-Mate in your FX loop and tell me how it works out for you. I prefer any 'verb I use not to get in the way of front end of my Maz Jr. (NR).

Lefty, I did try the Solemate in the FX loop and it sounded good but a bit washed and not as good as the front end. I personally don't care for any effects in the FX loop I will typically search out pedal I can run up front. As you know the Z's take pedals exceptionaly well and this effect is no different IMHO. My chain is Peterson Strobo,Teese Wah,Analogman Fuzz,Fulltone FulldriveII, MojoVibe,Memoryman,ISP Decimator, Solemate w/power Voodo Plus 2. Decimator is there because we do a few metal songs and I have a "Metal pedal" that gets a bit screachy!Kind of a pedal junkie and long chain but they hit the amp fine. I played the Solemate pure on the front end with no other pedals ab'd with chain and no deterioration what so ever. Hope this helps! Jim
