I'm in Charlotte, NC this weekend producing a band called South 85. Their guitar player Mike Bader has a Monza that he's been playing through a closed back cab with a G12H30 and a G12-65. I've got it miked with a Royer 121 into a Telefunken V72 pre and a LA2 type opto compressor which would be a typical electric guitar recording chain for me. Most of the stuff I've heard from the Monza has been pretty saturated. I've been pleasantly surprised with the Monza's range in on the cleaner side. Not crazy clean like a Twin w JBL's but really articulate. I'm always happy when I get to an out of town producing gig and the guitar player has a Z. Here's an iPhone pic of Mike's rig.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love the Monza. It does have a great cleanish/crunch side with a million variations with the guitar's volume control and pick attack. It's just a great amp.
I'll bet that recording chain sounds killer.

It took some time, personally, to discover what a great cleanish side it has.

I haven't tried getting a real super clean yet but I might start doing that, especially since my recent discovery of how much the brake lite can change things Todd
