Currently I'm playing through a Carvin 100w Valvemaster tube amp, but soon (i hope) will be playing through a Z Maz 38 Sr.
I'm going to run a Keeley BD-2 PHAT through the clean channel of my Carvin (OD channel sucks) as my dirty, and want a boost for solos. I had a couple pedals in mind for a boost:
Addrock Boostmaster Keeley Katana Keeley TS-9 Mod Plus
Which of those would everybody prefer? Thanks!

I just got a TC Juarnig Luxury drive. I'm happy so far. I was considering the Katana boost though since you have the option of a really clean boost or a dirty boost.

What about the new AC Booster w/ Keeley TS9 Mod Plus as a booster?

I keep changing my mind... Here's another setup to think about.
Keeley BD-2 for OD, and Xotic RC Booster for leads.

For what it's worth, there's a company called Barge Concepts that sells a two channel cascadeable boost called the DB-2. There's one for $99.00 shipped on eBay right now. Channel 2 has 27 dBs abnd is clean, channel 1 has 27 dBs and a master volume so you can get a LITTLE hair. AND you can run BOTH sides together if you want. It's well constructed, real clean, real loud, and a real deal as far as I'm concerned.

Use a compressor for a sweet, singing boost.

..What compressor boosts? I thought compressors pretty much just even out your playing, loud notes quieter, soft notes louder.
I'm planning to run a Keeley Compressor also, just so ya know...
edit: billyguitar. is that your band on your sig?

That be we. We just play around KC 2 or 3 times a month. Those tracks are between 4 and 6 years old. The same singer and I are on everything and the same sax on about 1/2 the tunes. It's just demo stuff. Most compressor pedals have a lot of clean boost available, with or without compression.

Using my Keeley BD2 with my Addrock Boostmaster, especially through the Stingray, nails the country dirt sound ala BP or KU. I highly recommend the Addrock. I've had it for years, it works great with any pedals, and I'd be lost without it. It just seems to boost the right frequencies, the right way, if that makes any sense Harold

I keep changing my mind... Here's another setup to think about. Keeley BD-2 for OD, and Xotic RC Booster for leads. We're evidently thinking alike. ;D I use an RC, and have a Keeley BD 2 due in today or tomorrow. Will post results later...

It's quite versatile, and WAY more transparent than the typical OD pedal! Have fun Harold

The RC boost works great with the Keeley BD 2. My nephew (19jmm68) uses that setup in our band and it sounds great with whatever Z amp or guitar he uses.

The Keeley BD2 showed up yesterday. I immediately ran it through the Stingray sandwiched between a Barber Tone Press and the RC Booster. Very nice! It's fairly transparent, much like the RC, but with more gain available. I took Robert's advice and set the level to noon, gain and tone to 10:00 and loved the settings. Use each one independently, or for some major blast, kick 'em both in. I had originally bought the "middy" TS9, tried it for a couple weeks, then switched it for the BD2+ fat mod...much happier now! Keeley are some of the best folks out there to deal with.

I use an RC Booster before my Keeley pedals. Just set the RC knobs to noon and set the volume to unity gain - great place to start before you start tweeking. The RC adds so much life to your sound, that you'll find that you'll never want to turn it off.
