I love the Fulltone stuff. I own a Full Drive 2 MOSFET and Ultimate Octave. The Plimsoul is cool I've messed around with it before. I have the Full Drive which is enough for me but would consider it if I didn't.

Well now Lefty, you could always drive up I-25 to the Rockrimmon Blvd exit and head up the hill to your old buddy's place to put one through it's paces. Or you could call or e-mail me if you're so inclined. Either way, I recommend the Plimsoul. Works fine for all of my higher gain sounds. I'm currently using a Timmy v2 for the low gain OD. After using this for a while I shelved my OCD v1. There's been a lot going on lately in my neck of the woods. We need to catch up.

Why thank you chptunes! Yes me and Lefty go back about 12-13 yrs. Wow time flies. I signed up here a while back but never posted. Of course I called myself righty just to be a bit of a smart butt. Come to think about it, I may have originally signed up to spy on my old buddy. He's a bit of a gear very *friendly* person and I have to try and keep up. Oddly enough, I haven't seem Lefty since I bought my Z's. We'll rectify that here shortly. He's never steered me wrong on any gear talk so maybe I can help out with this Plimsoul thing.

Definitely check the Plimsoul out of you get the chance.
I've never really been a fan of overdrives, tubescreamer types or otherwise. Outside of the Skreddy Screwdriver I always liked fuzzes more, but was intrigued with this pedal and so tried one out on a whim.
It has since become the my #1 lead boost for my SRZ-65, and that's a spot on my board that has seen a number of different pedals come and go for various reasons... it seems like I was always looking for something to fill that role. Since getting a Plimsoul about a month ago, everything else has been put away... I think it's already the pedal that's stayed in that spot the longest. Right now I use it with the volume boosted just slightly over unity and the gain under half. It has a fair amount of gain available though with both stages cranked. I dig it, but as always time will tell.
I've also heard some people commenting they really like the Plimsoul with the Rt66 as well, but I've been enjoying it with the SRZ so much I haven't even tried it with my 66 yet.
Anyways, just wanted to add a few thoughts... hopefully you'll get to check one out. Enjoy.

I have always hated distortion stompboxes of any flavor or type of clipping. OD, dirt, medium-light grit boutique, tube screamer, fuzz, vintage, modern, Japan, NY, Europe, make, brand, model, yuck. Hated, and yuck. But I have gone through a million or so modulation and delay pedals, many of which I adored.
Fulltone Plimsoul is my favorite stompbox of all time! Bar none! Hardwire DL-8 is a close 2nd! Small Stone is a distant 3rd! All other pedals are long gone.
Plimsoul was almost as big for me as discovering Dr. Z. Fantastic as a clean boost, a treble boost, or for any kind of distortion. To me it's a refined version of the GT-500, and that thing IS a distortion factory.

also, it's the coolest, dark purple color has the coolest battery hatch I've ever seen
a few nights ago, I had this smooth, liquid, sort of a high preamp gain "Maz" tone in my head, like a GT daydream maybe, or a Sr. with the preamp cooking but the master down. I was running my 66 and Ghia in stereo, added the Plimsoul, tweaked for mere moments, nailed it. Later on, re-nailed that liquid gain feel with each amp separately. On all 3 occasions and at several volume levels each from arena to bedroom, I rode the gain and compression with a teenager's glee.
thought I was done typin or somethin? The other night, I wanted 5e3 Explod-o-tone. With Ghia as a base, and Plimsoul as a treble boost, it was done. A done deal. I was there. I saw it all.

one more thing
I've picked up that folks are passing on this purple powerhouse after they plug in the 1st time, and then run the knobs at noon or so, and crank E major or something crazy.
man ...
Anybody that does that will run, and need to change shorts. This pedal is FEROCITY defined. Some of the most jaw-dropping sounds that I've gotten with the thing have been with knobs at 8:30 a.m., or below. With just a dollop of soft TS-style clipping driving the tiniest amount of hard-clipping, with the Hi-Cut and Level knobs backed down around 9 o'clock? I have that Maz boutique gain out of my Route 66 that way.
Plimsoul dialed way back is where many other OD/Dirties sound with the knobs at 2/3.

that thing has some killer OD.. great pedal. but I think its out of my application you're right, there are a lot of possibilities with the separate knobs for the soft & hard clipping (and that spectacular Hi-Cut knob it has, which is its secret weapon imo), but, I think that's kinda what I mean, when you say "out of my application", whereas to me it seems designed to be flexible enough for any sort of imaginable dirt stomping. Then again it was inconceivable to me a year ago that I would ever own a distortion pedal, so eh what do I know, when it gets down to it. I haven't used many dirt pedals all that extensively and I've only really liked this one out of all others ever made that I've tried. Just never got the concept before, especially when I already had Bogner chunk and 5150 devastation. Some people think it's Fuller's Metal Zone (Boss), and I suppose it is, and I love it for that with my 66 but I think it's *just* as great at subtly heating the front of my Ghia, just to occasionally put an extra scald on that chicken. For Ghia, I usually prefer straight-in but some of my favorite Plimsoul settings are for occasional use with my Ghia: very low and clean and just to add a bit of glow or a bit of tweed .... I leave Plimsoul on and channel Carlton, Ford, Slowhand, Marino, Stevie, Steve, Sonny when I wanna try and get into some tasty woah stuff. 'Ceptin for my gorgeous Carmen Ghia sounds, with a Plimsoul and my Route 66 and a pile of cabs I feel like I can do just about anything. Any damn thing. At any volume, bedroom to arena, and rather adroitly. But I ain't never tried a Kanji or a Love Pickle or a Kalamazoo or an Obsession or a Chanel No. 5 or an Eternity or a Swollen Rhino or a Great Big Muff or a Little Muff or a Magnum Muff P.I. or a Good 'n' Muff or a What The Fudge.
