The Timmy I paid waaaay too much for arrived today and I've had the afternoon to put it through its paces. I bonded with THIS much more quickly than the late lamented Zen Drive... I should have snagged one of THESE a month ago. This has a little furrier tone to it that feels better to me. The ZD was too sterile for my tastes. I have this after my high gain pedal and it works great as a medium grit pedal and as a boost for the OCD or Sweet Cheetah.
All that said: Any Timmy owners have ideas for the internal DIP switch settings? I haven't monkeyed with these yet because I'm getting a good feel for the pedal in its vanilla setting, but has anyone experimented with the internal settings and found things they particularly liked? Thanks for any suggestions.
And the Zen Drive..? if I could have afforded to keep IT and the Timmy I would have, because I'm still suspicious that I just hadn't found the right venue, volume level, or settings to make it wake up for me. I just liked the Timmy right out of the box.

I tried the compressed mode (both dip switches on) and didn't like it. The sound wasn't as lively. I also tried the asymetrical clipping (either one of the dip switches on) and couldn't hear any difference. After I put the screws back in, I read that that setting sounds different only when you stack the Timmy with another pedal. So, I haven't tried that yet. I'm still waiting for a bunch of chips I ordered from Small Bear including the Burr-Brown and the LM 1458, to come so I can try those.
I find I am liking this pedal more and more as time goes on. Still experimenting with different stacking options and have a Luxury Drive coming soon which I'm anxious to try stacked with the Timmy. I'm also tempted to get a Lovepedal COT or a GASpedal Carb since I hear they stack great and add that Plexi tone, but I have been spending too much lately.

I've decided to try one of the new Timmy pedals. Paul made a change with the diodes & now the Timmy is supposed to be a bit smoother & it's also supposed to gel better with other pedals & amps.

I saw Greg Koch this weekend at a workshop and his Gristle King (Luxury Drive/DGTM combo, and order switchable) sounded awesome. Worth a look. If Tim Jauernig sees this post, maybe he has some chip suggestions to make the milder side of my double DGTM more like the Luxury Drive... Anyway, the Timmy as is just sounds a little more natural and earthy than the Zen did. Like the Gainster it really bonds seamlessly with the amp. I liked the way the ACs did this when I had them too, but there was a buzzy undertone I just couldn't get rid of...
