Bryan, The Keeley compressor is hard to beat for country with the Zs.For clean boost the Durham Electronics Sex Drive is a good choice.I use a Boss DD-3 Delay for my Prescription ES and a Tube Screamer TS9DX for mild overdrive. There are lots of choices out there.I have been waiting for a Hermida Zendrive for Months now.Hope this helps, Mike

No problem.Actually im emailing Alf at Hermida today to see when mine is shipping.Real nice guy.You listen to any of Brad Paisleys tunes and if so have you been to any of his shows. That is some loud Z amps right there buddy and tone to die for.Z amps make some nice country sounds for sure.Never tried a Maz but i hear they are great. ......Mike

I really like my Fulltone Fulldrive II. Many variables on it, but I can set it for a mild boost so it lets the original sound of the Maz come through with just a little extra umph...and a little more sustain.

i 've used mine for several yrs in a country/ southern rock band. for comp i use the barber tone press. FDII works great. i believe some clips from our live album are on www.kinchafooneecowboys.net it was recorded with this set up and a LP or 335. I have used other pedals as well, an the good thing is you will get lots of opinions, but the JR takes pedals so well, there are a whole lot of options that will work well. good luck, chris.

Bryan, I'm with doc 66 the Xotic line of clean boost and overdrive pedals. Learn more and hear them here: www.prosoundcommunications.com/english/xotic/effects/lineup.htmlI love my Keely comp it's all I need in that department. I have a Zen Drive on order but I'm not holding my breath. I also use an OCD by Fulltone and like it for a different flavor of OD and to stack with the AC or even the RC. Lots of tonal variations are available by manipulating pedal order and by stacking. Welcome to the Forum and good luck with your search. Lots of good advice here....Stan

Hope I can help with some good suggestions. My standard and I think a fairly good standard board to use, it all depends on what sounds you are going to be covering though. First off a compressor is a must, the Keeley is pry one of, if not the best out there. Another great one is the Boss CS-3 between these 2 pedals they are the two used the most by studio guys in Nashville and are what you are hearing on the radio. The Keeley is alot more prevalent these days. Second a delay, I use a Visual Sound H2O so my chorus and delay needs are coverd by one pedal. The Boss DD-3 is another great choice, Brent Mason and tons of other country guys use it all the time. Compression and delay are key for the country sound to me. I have them both on all the time, only thing that might change is delay times occasionally. Once you get those 2 pedals it all depends on what else you might want to add. I like my Keeley Ts9 alot and its great for some dirt for rock and country A volume pedal is great as well, put it towards the end of your chain after your gain effects, but is best before delay and chorus. makes it easy to change guitars and you can stop the his or hum from pickups and overdrive and distortion pedals when between songs. Boost pedals, the RC Booster by Xotic is amazing. Hope that helps ya and you will be rocking out with your Maz very soon. They are great amps I love mine.

Yeah same as me I heard they were a great amp for lower wattage but yeah i haven't tried one out so i hope i like it when i get the amp in a month......I heard the Z28 amp was great for country as well......ah rcrecelius on the forum has some great tone on his clips..... Bryan hermyinaz, First of all, welcome to the Z forum and congrats on your Z purchase...I bet you cant wait to get it and flip the standby! The Z28 is also a great country amp(thanks btw...heres your first karma point) For pedals, I suggest keeping it simple...a compressor can be a good tool depending on what kind of tone your looking for...or especially if you'll have to cover a lot of different tones/sounds...I personally go without a comp but sometimes I do wish I had one for certain things. OD - man cannot live without overdrive and there are many pedals out there. The Xotic stuff is great(I like the RC although its not really an OD) but you could also go with some cheaper "non-boutique" pedals to get yer feet wet...a Blues Driver and a Tubescreamer makes a pretty good pair IMO. From here its all icing on the cake...chorus, delay, etc...you can get by without all that extra stuff but its up to you whether you chose to use it or not...and again, if you need to cover a lot of different sounds you may need and/or want to use more effects...and theres cetainly no law against that
