Well, I got a few minutes to dink around with it-- so far I like it a lot, but it's an adjustment because I've never used anything like it.
First of all, I don't find this to be that close to a TS9 at all. The FD2 can also be midrangey, sure-- but it's very different in character. To me, the TS9 seems to have a lot of "honk" to it that's missing in the FD2.
The MOSFET side is very very warm. On another amp that's not as clear as a 'Ray, it would be muddy, I suspect.
But with the 'Ray, it works very well. I'd have to say that it really does seems to have a Fuchs-like tone in certain settings.
The Flat Mids mode can be nice sometimes, but it seems a little too compressed to me, and honestly it sounds more like "scooped mids" than flat mids. The scoop accents the highs and lows, and seems to add a little fizz to the sound.
FM sounds best at lower gain settings, using it more like a booster or Fulltone OCD than an OD pedal.
The MOSFET is really warm and amazingly so-- but the regular "vintage" mode sounds good too-- not quite the TS9 clone I was led to believe. It has less sizzle than the TS9, imo.
I'll try my hand at the crappy videos again so you can hear it yourself in all the different modes.
