Does anyone have any experience with the DLS Echo Tap delay pedal? I've heard some great things about it, but some have said the repeats are very "dark". I've used Maxon AD-900 & AD-999 pedals and I don't like how dark/warm/thick the repeats are on those two pedals. If the DLS is more open sounding, I'd probably order one from Musictoyz.com. Every other aspect about that pedal is just what I'm looking for.

Hey I have one of these!!!! was just brousing through the effects thread and saw this question. I don't know if you just went ahead and got one or not by now but if not...
There are many things I like about this pedal. I almost didn't buy it but it really has very useful controls. once I got it I find that I can't really live without it. On the other hand there are some weird things about it like the stereo a and b jacks aren't really very functional unless your running full stereo in a studio. It doesn't ping pong which is why I wave a analogman modded dd6 as well in my board.
The repeats knob and volumn knobs are fine but the tone knob on it is really very dark. i have it actually all the way to the left just to get it to repeat clearly. and after about 9 oclock it starts to get so dark it might as well not be there. of course I really like bright clear repeats. which is also why I have a dd6 also.
The pedals real function is in the live use aspect. It really works great between the tap tempo side and the fixed tempo side. I never thought I would use the fixed tempo on this pedal but now I wish that every delay out there had one. I find myself spending all of my time just trying to get the right timing on the dd6 and with the dls i can just snap to it. and the timing is always just right esp. with a drummer who uses a metronome. then on the other end when you just need to tap a tempo you got it, and by holding down the tap for 2 seconds your back to fixed tempo mode.
I also has true bypass so you can have a delay actually running and turn of the delay and later turn it back on with the last note delayed still running. almost like a looper.
I must say that I have heard warmer delays but this pedal is worth it simply for the function. It is my main delay. And it's worth having.

It is a very musical pedal, but a bit dark. I sent it back due to some audible hiss and the fact that I couldn't turn down the level of the repeats enough when the tone control was all the way to the left. I was really very surprised how loud the repeats are at minimum levels. DLS said they would do a mod to reduce the levels, but wanted $23.00. I've never used a delay pedal where I couldn't turn the repeats down to a more usable level for chord comping. Surprisingly to me, I ended up with a Boss DD-20 Giga Delay. A great sounding pedal and a good value for $179.00 at GC!
