I'm really starting to get bugged at the slight volume drop when kicking on the DL4.
I know Keeley has a mod to fix this....but it's $100 Keeley says they replace several chips, and also address the volume drop.
I don't care about replacing the chips for a more hi-fidelity sound. I'm concerned only with the volume drop.
Does anyone know of a cheaper way?

I haven't really noticed much of a volume drop, but if it is bugging you one thing you could do is take it out ot true bypass mode so you'll have a consistent volume. Just turn the volume up on the amp a little (or a compressor pedal, booster, etc.). The added bonus to that is that the repeats continue when you click off the delay.

I thought about that, but I really don't want a non-true-bypass pedal on the board.
I'm posting the same question in the Line 6 forum....but it looks like things are a little dull there.

I don't have any experience with the Keeley mod personally, but from what I hear it actually ends up BOOSTING the volume more than it originally drops.
There was a thread about this over the the gear page not too long ago.

gtrman3 - let your ears be the judge. There are some people that don't think true-bypass is a must. It might be worth a try to put it in the other mode before dropping $100 or more on a mod or another pedal.

I, like you, debated as to whither the Keeley mods were worth the money. I finally gave in and sent my MM4 and DL4 in for the mods, when they returned and I listened to them they sounded so much better that I wish I hadn't waited so long to do it. It really made a big difference in tone, fidelity and volume balance. I know $100 seems a little high by I've wasted more money on other things trying to get my "tone" and have been disappointed. This time I wasn't.

Hey gtrman3, I don't know if you're interested, but I just ordered a DLS Echotap today after reading some great reviews and talking to some guys on the gearpage. It is true bypass, has internal trim pots for input AND output, has tap tempo, and you can switch between two delay times and levels. It ain't cheap though....$290.00. I'll post a review after I get it. Here's the link to DLS. They also have a bunch of sound clips. www.dlseffects.com/index.php

I think Keeley's mods include replacing some surface mount components. Not an easy thing to do unless you are very skilled.

I assume this is in series with your other FX?
I run my DL4 in a parallel loop (Boogie Recording Pre has parallel loop with adjustable return) and get no volume drop at all.
I used to run all my stuff in series, but I was noticing a HUGE change in tone over just plugging one or two things in front and putting all the time-basaed stuff in the loop.
All I have in front of the preamp now is a Strobostomp, Wah, and TS9. The Delay and Trem are in the loop, with better sonic results.
