I have an opportunity to grab a used 66, and my cabinet is a Z 212 with blues... anyone here have experience with this setup at all? Is the Route too much for it?

Pretty sure I've read of other 66 owners running theirs through a pair of blues with no problem. You could always throw an attenuator in front of the speakers to be sure. Hopefully someone will chime in with more info for you. Merry Christmas.

I just picked up an older Rt66 a little over a month ago and am running it through a 2/12 open back cab with 16 ohm Blues wired parallel for an 8 ohm load. It is freaken great! I was a little concerned at first but there are a few threads in here with guys that speak to using them with no problem. I have an Alessandro "The Muzzle" attenuator and use it often just for keeping the peace in the home, but I also run it wide open with no issues! They sound great as one would expect so if you get the 66..... go for it as I am quite pleased with the results. Merks.

Good to know... thanks for the replies, I wasn't overly worried, as I know the blues can take quite a pounding. My cab is wired for a 4 ohm load though, I'm wondering if that makes a big difference?

From the "don't try this at home" dept - with my 66 I used to use a single 16 ohm C-Blue with an Airbrake set on about 4. Never really had the volume past 9 or maybe 9:30. I did this for a couple of years as a weekend player and never had a problem. Later, I used 2 C-Blues in parallel a couple of times, sounded real good. Hope this helps.

Another forum member asked me this same question in a PM recently. As I told him, my opinion is that the Celestion Blue is good for a little more than the 15W it's rated at. Many of us have run a loud distorted MAZ 18 or Ghia through one for extended periods with no problems.
The 66 is in the low to mid 30's wattage wise. I sure wouldn't run a RxES, original Rx, Mazerati GT or Z Wreck through two blues but I'd trust the 66 with 'em under normal operating conditions.
