My new Z Wreck arrived today. That's the good news..The bad news..I had neck surgery 3 weeks ago and can't lift anything heavier than 5 lbs for 3 more weeks. My wife sure can't lift it out of that box.Anyone who's bought a new DR Z knows how hard they lift out. There won't be any way for me to get it un boxed until Christmas Evening.. LOL -- Even though I knew that before it arrived I was in high hopes my 120lb wife could yank it out of there. She can't even budge it. There were 2 UPS guys that were kind enough to bring the boxes in my mud room. They even took a brand new piece of clean cardboard and set it down on the carpet first. Tomorrow a Rickenbacker 620 should arrive : At least II can play that in my Maz but I bought it for the Wreck. I was going to get a Z verb except having one in Red already the 620 seemed like the logical choice. I wonder what she got me for Christmas:) Hopefully a Zendrive and a Headbone A/B If it sounds like I'm Bragging. I guess I am ;D I worked hard for it:::

I'd start cutting that box apart, that way you won't have to overcome the force of the foam holding the amp or cab into its shipping box. Just a thought. I think you can buy packing materials from Dr Z if you should need them in the future.

Open the top - fold the flaps down on the sides. Lift one end till the box is on its side (have the Mrs. do this). Tip it a little and shake - it will start sliding right out of there. Put something soft in its path so it doesn't scuff the tolex. Once the cab is out on its side, tip it back on its feet. There you go!

Yea ! Don't tear the box apart. I save all my boxes for expensive stuff. If you have to fix the head back at Dr z you'll be glad you have the box and if you want to sell it to me LOL; you'll have boxes. lay it down and gently slide it out. I've been disabled 12 years and i can't lift much, but I'll slide it out so I can play it. My wife helps with stuff like speaker cabs. Then she says you wont keep it a week LOL Get better soon.

Ok, ok. Maybe cutting the box apart wasn't the best idea, but I would if that was the only remaining way to get to my brand new Z Wreck. I like the tilting it on end Idea, it may work as long as the box isn't too full of foam. I have unpacked quite a few and some are really in there tight when they are brand new.

Brag on all you want man - you worked hard for it I am sure As for your unpacking situation. I'd say that Steve's suggestion is on point. If your wife can't hold it while it's being tipped, I'd say that you go right ahead and rip that box open like a crazy mofo (well to a certain extent) If you need to ship it, get a new box from the good Dr.

Problem is I promised a member I'd put the Cab he is getting from me in the box. I'll get it out. I have a few 30 year olds that stand 6'4 220 or so. They'll get it out. Even cutting the box , I'd still have to drag it. Don't want to do that. I'll at least get the amp out..

Glad to hear that you will have some help in couple of days. It will be well worth the wait. Best of luck with your recovery.

You have neighbors? With teenagers? They are always looking for an extra ten bucks. Get one over there and have him set it where you want it.

I have 40 Acres of land 20 of which is Frontage -my nearest neighbor older than me- I believe has 80 acres most of which is frontage. The other way is a golf course. So I'd be going a way to find someone. They'll be here tomorrow morning maybe some even tonight. Otherwise your idea would be a good one. Although these days 10 bucks might only fetch me a 10 year old

Little known feature of Z Amps... If they don't get unboxed soon after reaching their destination, they are programmed to return to the nest. You don't want to wake up and find that your Dr Z amp took off on you, and is heading for Ohio. Got to let that puppy breath...

Congrats on the amp. I love mine more every time I play it. It's astonishing the array of tones Dr Z has stuffed into a single channel amp with 4 knobs and 1 "mode" switch -- which I haven't used yet
