Ok, we've all talked about it before but let's yak it up about our favorite fuzzes again. Something else may have come along that I've missed. Show us your fuzz!

I've got two...Analogman NKT Fuzz and a Pro Analog Super Scary Fuzz, but are great but quite different. I would like to find a nice Silicon fuzz. But when push comes to shove, I never use either one much.

I kinda like my MJM london fuzz, when the mood strikes. Ive a/b'd it with a bunch, and it comes up the winner (to my ears) in the accuracy dept. It sounds like a "great example" of an original face. Havent tried his silicon version, but i'd bet its VERY nice for the hotter stuff. Just got a Karl fuzz from lovepedal, Very nice !! Maybe the most usable? fuzz ive tried. You can set it to be quite long sustaining and with out as much high end roll off with your guitar volume up full. Kinda more like a distortion, but still retains certain fuzz qualities, and set high it gets pretty ring mod-ish.

P.S. , Lefty you might check out the Karl, its a silicon, but VERY warm and suprisingly usable. I'm like you and cant quite work a fuzz in on a regular basis. Fun to play with though! Lou

The last time I used a fuzz at a gig was about 15 years ago when I needed it to play Satisfaction. I bought a cheap Boss or DOD because it sounded crappy like an old Maestro. I still have it and an original gray hammertone Vox Tonebender. I bought it for $15 or $20 at swap and shop about 20 years ago. When I bought it I put a battery in it and tried it. It didn't sound as good as the one I had in high school so I never tried it again. The weird thing was it has clips for 2 batteries. I don't know what that's about. If anyone knows anything about the Vox fuzz let me know. A Fuzz Face kind of fuzz is a cool thing!

I have the MJM Silicon London Fuzz II and I love it. Again a very warm fuzz but still has a that silicon edge. You can get some great Hendrix, EJ tones out of this thing for sure. ;D

I like my NKT sunface, and have wondered about the Fireburst from Diamond Pedals. It has a mid/volume boost switch as well.

I don't use fuzz much and actually haven't owned one in years unless you consider the Keeley Fuzz Head a fuzz, which I don't even with the internal gain control maxed. I recently bought an HBE UFO octave fuzz to use on a couple Hendrix tunes I was thinking of doing. Using the fuzz alone, I kept finding myself playing the opening riff to "No Time" by Guess Who (yes I'm an old guy). But Listen to the original and tell me it's not one of the all time best fuzz tones ever and I'll eat my hat , which is now covering my slightly balding head!

My personal favorite is a BSM Fuzzbender. Carbon copies of both the orginal Dallas-Arbiter Fuzzface and the Sola Sound Tonebender MK I
But I would like to try out the Chicago Iron Octavian. It's supposed to be a wicked copy of the Tycobrae Octavia.

I like the Z.Vex Fuzz Factory. It's certainly not for the faint-hearted........more of an experiementalist pedal i suppose. It does however, have some traditional 60's sounding fuzz tones in it. Very versatile. Very wacky. I personally never cared for the Analogman Sundial fuzz.........not with my amp anyway. The BSM stuff sounds really really cool too. So much fuzz, so little time.........

I borrowed a Fuzz Factory for a couple gigs and I really liked it too. I set it up as a regular fuzz face as on the demo clip and added just a hint of compression and it was pretty wicked through the Rt 66. I also have a Tonefactor Hellbilly which is more of a Germanium boost and I was kinda comparing them during a song when I accidently left both on, I had one of the best high gain lead tones I've ever had. I still wanna check out MI Audio's fuzzes and also I haven't heard Ulbricks Germanium Face yet. Three fuzzes on my "have to check out" list.

I had a Fuzz in 1968. It was round with a curved top. When it moved on I never sought another. I prefer boosts or ODs over fuzzes and distortions. I guess a fuzz would be fun in a campy, retro sort of way. ;D

This was in about 1968. Some older friends of mine were having band practice one Saturday afternoon in a garage with the door open. Pretty quick the police showed up. they had to turn it down, ya da, ya da. My friend was using a Les Paul Junior, a 4 x 10 Bassman (both were about $75 a piece in those days!) and a Moserite Fuzz pedal. As the cop was about to get in his car my friend turned on the fuzz pedal and played some huge loud riff. The cop came back really pissed. My friend said it was an accident. He said he "accidently stepped on The Fuzz". The cop was really pissed off then but just left after another warning. Pretty juvenile antics on our part but kind of funny in a '60's hippy kind of way. I don't know who made the Moserite but that was a good Fuzz pedal.

Bumper sticker seen circa 1967- SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FUZZ
It would make an interesting boutique effects maker slogan.
No? ;D
