I own an older white Fulltone Deja Vibe; the one with the separate wall wart. I have always like the pedal but I have always wondered if something better was out there. I have heard the Voodoo Labs vibe, and prefer mine. However, I have not heard the Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe, or the MJM '60s Vibe. Has anyone been able to compare either of these to a Fulltone Deja (old or new). Any comments on either unit would be great.
Thanks,
PDW

Yeah, I have the custom shop mini deja-vibe, and a friend has the sweetsounds mojo. He bought it over and we compared the two in my 66. The Mojo was really warm and had more "effect" if you needed it. It sounded great where as we both agreed the Fulltone sounded a bit more like an original univibe. The Mojo sounded a bit thicker, had more modulation but I don't know if you really need to get that much effect, but it's there if you do Kinda more a personal taste thing, he liked the Fulltone and I really liked the Mojo, but I like the Fulltone too so I don't think I'd trade. Either are great univibe pedals.

Pdw, Ive owned or own all you mentioned and more, including an original for comparison. For my tastes and to the best of my ability to a/b with a univibe, there is simply none better than the MJM 60's. Ya know its always subjective, tho. MOST people simply do not have the luxury to side by side with an original, as i am fortunate enough to have done. One of the tough aspects of it is that the Uni's varied quite a bit themselves. Some came with an internal trimmer and others had fixed value resistors. But in general even the worst of them were and are deeper and more intoxicating, than most of the clones. For me the depth is important, You can always adjust it down. But if it doesnt get there in the first place its not going to ever. BUT, for me the most critical aspect is the shape and swing of the pulse. For instance i had a Foxrox Captain coconut 2, which by the way is a thing of great beauty, AND THE best value of any thing ive seen( octave, fuzz face, and vibe, in one pedal for 399.00 !!) All of the effects are excellent, particularly the Octave and fuzz, BUT.... the provibe fell short for me because of its shape and the weird interaction bettween the depth control and the shape. It sounds very round, like a steady circle shape, as opposed to the oldies kind of Elliptical doppler-esq swing. Good, but no cigar for me. I own Deja # 50 something, and it does good trower phaseyness, but for pure deep vibe, it sounds absolutely small and compressed compared to the MJM. The Mayer Voodoo Vibe is cool if your a tweaker, want more than a vibe out of one pedal, and if you can stand a full time buffer giving you this high end sheen to your signal. I'm not,... and I cant! so, on to the MOJO,....Very nice pedal. For authenticity, its my second choice. Sold it tho when i got my MJM!! It IS AMAZING, soo close to the UNI that its scary, except that it is true by-pass when its off. Michael doesnt really do any ground breaking designs. All of his pedals are re-makes of basically old designs, but he very carefully selects and matches components, so its like his pedals sounds like the best example of the original on its best day! Phew, well now that i seem like a MJM salesman, Ha!, ... I will say again that many have not heard in person an original, Therefore, it can just be a matter of personal taste. There are many flavors or variations on a theme, most ARE cool pedals in there own right. BTW the early Prescription Electronics Vibe, that got got all the ju-ju from guitar player mag, is a good one, but it was actually designed by bob sweet of sweetsound (mojo vibe)! Good luck, have fun! Lou

I'm trying out the Red Witch Deluxe Moon Phaser. I need the stereo split, and I want phase, trem and "trem-o-phase" (uni-vibe territory).... from the clips, it can nail the pink floyd guitar sound in the trem-o-phase setting. I'm very excited to put an Emma Discumbobulator after the DMP set to tremolo so it sends the envelope filter working at a faster rate in time with the tremolo rate and not just attack... should be fun!
