Well, just got done playin out live on Fri. nite. My rig for this gig was my RW neck Tele and Rt.66 with an EARCANDY 1-12. Handling the O/D duties was my new COT 50. Simple but effective! The Z was treble dimed, bass 10:30-11:00, and Vol. dimed as well. The cot is the BLUE led version (When i bought i didnt know there was a difference from the red ) I used it set at only 9:30 or so. WOW!! Absolutely THE best tone ive gotten so far. Soooo inspiring!! With the guitar vol. maxed, it was perfect for aggressive rythyms OR leads, so articulate and firm, but still chewy and responsive to pick attack. The RT. was smokin on its own but the cot set low gave it just a little more PHATNESS, more punch, and just the perfect amount sparkley gain. Back it off for some nice cleans, simply fantastic. It is the best boost ive ever tried with that amp ! >>>>>note tho, it did not sound as good with my clean set 65 Vibrolux rvb, I think that the hotter RED led one may work better there..... Has anyone got any input on the red vs. blue ?? Thanx, Lou

I have a COT50 coming to me tomorrow. I'm very interested in hearing how it sounds with my SRZ & Mini.

Let us know!, always axious to hear other opinions, gear combos etc. BTW, i must correct my prior about not liking it with my blackface. After coming back to it, I got it!! Its just trying to plexify my fender! which can be cool. Sounded great once i adjusted to its personality with that amp!!

Eh, it was just ok for me. I have been trying to find something that I can use at home with my Mini. I'm trying to get that cranked amp sound at about 9 o'clock on the Minis volume dial with some type of dirt pedal. The problem is that every pedal I try seems to compress the hell out of the Mini. It just doesn't sound very good to my ears. I'm really starting to get frustrated. I can't believe that I'm not able to find ANYTHING that works. I'm beginning to think that it has something to do with the Mini only having one preamp tube.

I was thinking the same thing billy. I'm not sure that will solve my problem but it's worth a shot I suppose.

Prowler, i dont own the Mini or SRZ, but i can "hear what your describing" on the mini. Pehaps it is a characteristic of that amp to easily overload the front end. Probably good to try a different tube that might be a little more firm. I dont find the COT to compress much into my 66, but, obviously a different front end. Maybe a higher gain pedal, that you can keep the output low, as to not drive V-1 into compression?? Course then what about the basic compression in the pedal?? Good luck, let us know!

Hi Prowler, have you ever tried a treble boost with the Mini? Like the BSM RM.

Never tried a treble booster with my Mini. I might be chasing an unreachable dream on this one guys. My SRZ sounds AMAZING but I keep that amp @ my studio so I can't play it at home. I'm trying to get the same type of tones out of my Mini at a home friendly volume level. The nature of the Mini's circuitry may be the reason I find it overloading so easily with drive pedals. If I were only able to find someone who had a lower gain preamp tube like a 12ay7 that I could borrow for a night or two I'd be able to test the lower gain preamp tube theory.
