Yesterday, I was practicing at low volume, and took a break for an hour or so. I always warm amp up and cool down stby before I play or shut it down. So I warmed it back up, turned stby off and made a little pop sound then nothing. No sound at all. I checked and the 1/2 amp fuse was burned up so I got replacements and changed the fuse. I warmed the amp up, turned stby off and then a small crackle noise and nothing. No sound, hum nothing. My buddy was looking in the back of the amp when I switched out of stby, and said the rectifier tube went super bright and looked like sparks falling inside of it. The fuse doesn't appear blown. Just replace the rectifier tube and go from there? Also, the only 5AR4 rectifier tube in stock anywhere near me is a Mesa Boogie. Aren't these just sovtek's anyway? Should I not use it?

I put the boogie 5ar4 in my rxes and I have sound(the tube sounds crappy). But I think this tube is causing noise in the amp It isn't loud, but it isn't quiet either. It is noticeable. It starts to ramp up about 1 minute after I turn off Standby. You can't hear the noise over playing, but I'm worried it could either indicate another problem, or just a bad rectifier tube? I had my carmen ghia 1x12 for 6 years, never had an issue. This thing sounds amazing I just want to get it squared away. I plan to order another rectifier tube anyway because I don't like the way this one changed the sound(it was all I could pick up locally though). Any recommendations? SS Cap?
