What is the difference between using a transparent clean boost (Klon type). Or just turning the amp volume up. When I tried it both ways, the result was similar. Is it as simple as, saturated tube sound at a lower volume? Thanks Guys!

Clean boost usually changes the dynamic feel to some extent, and they also often change the way signal is preserved when rolling back the guitar volume... They can add a bit of presence, sparkle, and natural compression by hitting the front end of your amp harder. It's kind of like adding a subtle second channel on a footswitch to a single channel amp. And yes, they can help you to get some of that cranked amp feel at lower overall volumes, but it's still different than cranking up your amp to my ears and fingers. So I definitely find that there are some differences in using a clean boost versus turning up your amp. It's up to you to decide if you like/want what a clean boost brings to the table, or if you'd prefer to go without. I personally like using one for the footswitchable versatility in all the aforementioned ways -- use it to push the amp harder, use it to change the flavor a bit, use it to preserved the shimmer when rolling back the guitar volume for cleans... but turn it off on the cleans and you're in sweetened roll-off land, if that makes sense.

I like turning my Ghia about 1:00 or higher on the volume and then boosting it- it SINGS. Awesome sound, you gotta try it.
