Very conflicted.... Should I sell my Stangray with cab and z28 head and pru it towards a Z-wreck.
I play in 2 bands. one classic rock (ZZ Top, Clapton, Dire Strts, Hendrix etc.) and a country band (Modern and classic stuff).
I've got a Remedy that will cover most of the classic rock stuff.
I just cant shell out the cash for the Z Wreck this year.
Help! I'm having bad GAS!

You are asking the wrong crowd if you ask me. I just put five amps up for sale so I could afford to get the ZW. Of course I'm keeping my Maz Jr NR and my Remedy too, so I'm still a 3-Z guy, but I get where you're coming from bigtime.

Carrjimi:
Where are you in Westchester? I think you told me once, but I've forgotten. Some of us have talked about a NY Wreck fest. You interested?

Tuff choice. But if you turned it around , would you sell a Z-Wreck to get a Stangray , cab and a Z28 head ? I suspect the Wreck would be a keeper , and it's probably easier to replace those others going forward if you missed them. Just my goofy way of making choices like this , good luck with your decision!

If the Z Wreck does indeed have a limited production run, then it's worth considering letting go of amps you can buy back in the future in order to fund a Wreck today. It really is that good at what it does.

I have a similar dilemma. I'm considering selling off 2 squeaky clean blackface Fenders; a '67 Vibrolux Reverb and a '67 Deluxe Reverb. Now that would give me more than enough money, but I would probably have to get a Z Verb and some type of attenuator. These are not easily replaced amps, and in this condition would always command higher prices. What's more, is how big will my regret factor be if the 'Wreck doesn't hold its value at least as well as the Fenders (which I'm confident it won't). On the flip side, I have a '65 Princeton that kills them both in pure tone, and I mic it with great results in my band. I guess if I ever need more Fender headroom, I could get a not-so clean one for less money. Decisons, decisions.
