I already own a Keeley compressor, and just purchased a Boss BD-2, that I'm going to send to him so he can do his Phat Mod to it. A TS-9 may soon follow. I was thinking also about picking up some 2nd hand pedals on Ebay and trying some of the do it yourself mods available on sites like: www.indyguitarist.comor www.monteallums.com/I was wondering If anyone had ventured into this area and what opinions you might have on the pros & cons. Thanks for your input Harold

I've done the H20 and regular BD2 mods from Monte. I like his kits because they include the parts.

The Boss CS-3 mod is killer from Monte Allums. Everything you need is there...just do one step at a time and always check after each step. I love my modded cs-3. It was fun to do as well. Order a super bright LED to go with the mod. I think you will be impressed. 6strang

I'm fairly handy with a soldering gun, but have never attempted to work in a small space like a pedal. Any advice or tips?

I had fun doing the compressor. I think I would go for the new opto mod! I literally fired up the solder gun, put on some tunes and took it one step at a time. Made a HUGE difference. The sound samples are accurate on the site. Try to be careful with the LED. Go slow and check after each part is switched. Oh yeah...use a marker to determine what to remove. It is a real cool mod. He ships real quick too. Let me know what you think. 6strang

I've got the Build Your Own Clone - Screamer Clone coming this Fri. Can't wait to see if I can put this thing together. It's a steal for $70 and comes with all the cool sh*t. All I've soldered so far are speaker wires.... haha... I'm really gonna f**k this thing up....

Watch out!!!
Once you start modding, it gets pretty addictive! I got the mod book from indyguitarist, and it's just chock full on info and it sure is fun tinkering in them little ol boxes!

I ordered the CS-3 kit from Monte...it's already shipped, and he emailed the instructions. Fast service! Now if I can pull it off... doesn't look too difficult.

Take your time, don't use too much solder and follow the instructions...piece of cake. The hardest part(s) were the switch and the power jack. I'll post some pics of the innards of mine when I get a chance.

Thanks Lefty. That puts me a little more at ease. I think I'll take it w/ me to my folks house out in the sticks where I can concentrate...

I have a Boss OD3 which I like but as Monte says the low end is a little splatty on these. I'm going to order his kit and try to do the mods.
