I just bought a voodo lab tremelo...............some of the guys here rec. the fulltone and/or the demeter.................I only use it on a few songs my band covers so I went with the cheapest..........the VL does a perfect "born on a Bayoo"...........and its true bypass and there is no tone loss when its on or off........so its fine for me. I like it more than the tremelo in my 66 deluxe!

The VL isn't bad, but my biggest gripe was the knobs (4) were very close together and it made tweaking on the fly impossible for my fat fingers. Good tone though.

I like the Fulltone Supa-Trem - the big knobs allow me to change the rate and mix on the fly with my feet. The 1/2 speed switch is nice for changing from slow to fast (or vice-versa) in different passages of a song. I also have the Demeter which is also nice (in fact I need to sell mine) but bending over to change the knobs is a pain.

Demeter Tremulator.
I didn't think the Voodoo Labs pedals were true bypass.

You might want to check out the Marshall VT-1 Vibratrem pedal that Peach recommended. I've gone through quite a few much more expensive trems, and the VT-1 has ended my search. Great trem and vibe tones and the right price. Also built like a tank.
Check out the thread in effects started by peach on this pedal.

Thanks all!!! Ended up getting the RedWitch after a phone demo from a local dealer here: www.axeandyoushallreceive.com/Cusack Tap-a-Whirl was my choice #2 but the RedWitch won on versatility. Scott from "Axe ..." is a great guy and actually played through one over the phone for me ... how's that for service! I needed one for some studio work pretty quickly and liked the fact that Red Witch had 5 different voicing options and the soft/hard switch ... it looks wicked in polished chrome and green print ... oh yeah, and it sounds fantastic! Scott was so helpfull that he also played a great sounding high-gain distortion pedal that I ended up getting as well: SubDecay Blackstar.

I use a plain-o Boss trem pedal and it's pretty nice... didn't have to pay an arm/leg. For regular loop effect stuff (cho/rev/trem/flang/phaser) the Boss stuff is fairly decent for the price. For sure, there is probably a lot better for more $$$$. I'm really impressed with my boss rv3 rev/delay pedal. Again, not the best... but it does the trick.

Man, just wanted to post really quickly here... I have not had much time at all to hang out here lately, and that sucks!
The VT-1 is indeed great for the money, and I especially dig the Vibrato setting, which is the reason that I will keep this pedal until the end of time (or until I sell it).
Also cool (for right now) is the buildyourownclone.com EA Tremolo kit that you can build (I think the kit is like $60). It requires minimal tools, comes with super easy-to-follow instructions, and only takes a couple hours to build for a first timer... What's best is that the tone is definitely there! So there's a tip for any budding DIY'er seeking tremolo.
All that said though (and I *think* terryg would agree with me on this one), the absolute be-all, end-all of tremolo in stompbox format is without a doubt the Toneczar Powerglide... We got to experience this pedal at the pedalfest in Chicago this past weekend, and it is absolutely on another level tonally compared to anything else I've experienced. This is the second time I've gotten to experience this pedal, and hearing it again this past weekend definitely reaffirmed a love-affair I had with it after hearing it the first time about a year ago...
Yes, it's expensive, but it's also two trems in one, it's feature-packed, and above all it's got THE tone... it had a depth and dimension unlike any pedal trem I've ever heard... FAR more amp-like than any other pedal out there. I want so badly to own that pedal that it may well haunt me until the day I finally decide to pull the trigger on one.

You think right, bro. The powerglide is to vibrato what the echoczar is to "delay" (and I put "delay" into quotes simply because the echoczar is just not a delay pedal - it's much more!). The toneczar stuff just has a new voice all of their own, I *think* you'll agree, Chad I just built one of those BYOC trems - really easy, much easier than I thought - and hey, it sounds cool! Lefty offered to build mine for me, and I'll pay that offer forward and offer to build it for you too, simply because I enjoyed the experience so much.

I'm using the Voodoo Labs Tremolo here, and it seems to work just fine. True bypass (required on my pedal board), and has a control to change the shape of the LFO from sine to square and everything in between.

I've been using a Demeter Tremulator and a Diaz Tremodillo, but the Diaz is so noisy I've pulled it off the board. That leaves this gaping hole, top center, since I've finally admitted that the Prunes & Custard that used to alternate with the Tremodillo falls into the "Cool But Useless" category. Ideally I'd find an analog delay, but I can't find one that fits (the budget, my standards, or the space), so I'm thinking about another tremolo, perhaps the Catalin Bread Semaphore Tremolo... www.catalinbread.com/sem.html...anyone tried this? I'm gonna head to a local shop for a test drive, but a few minutes in shop never does you right... BKS

I just pulled the trigger on a POWERGLIDE!!!! ;D Six month wait . Six months to save $350 . Hey Peach, just do it, I haven't even heard the pedal, you got six months to save or sell something. LOL. I really want that Echoczar, but I had to get a cheaper delay, Memory Lane. I just don't need a two amp setup, I'm sure it's impressive to say the least, but my neighbors don't care, I don't gig. I will just enjoy my ML, and look foward to the Powerglide.

Hey anyone have or played with an old rocktron SURF tremolo? I have one and it gets killer trems, really sounds good. My only complaint is that they have a noise gate, and the control is faulty. Even full off (its supposed to be bypassed ) there remains a tiny bit of gating, anoying. I dont know if it could be fixed or not? I dont often plug into many effects but it would be nice to have it work right. If i recall it also has a compressor in it! cool!

I have a Rocktron Surf Tremolo here and on mine the control for tone on the compressor broke. Totally spins around. I took it all apart - it is NOT made to be repaired, and of course Rocktron doesn't even resemble the same company any more. They don't support it from what I can tell. Pity. That was a pretty cool unit, but it looks like mine is headed to the dumpster.

I got some e-mails from Ed at Toneczar about a new stereo version of the Powerglide Tremolo. It will work like the current version, but will work in.... 1 mono in-mono out 2 mono in-stereo out 3 stereo in-mono out 4 stereo in-stereo out and can pan or synchronize the tremolo when in stereo. The new Powerglide is meant to follow the Echoczar in the chain in stereo. Too cool. I don't know how much $$$ but definitely more than the usual $345. I'm getting on the waiting list for this one.

Don't laugh but I've got a Guyatone VT-3 Tremolo. It cost about sixty bucks. Cheap and it is a nice tremolo. It actually boosts the signal a bit to compensate for the loss in volume that you usually experience when you kick your tremolo on. It does however add a bit of grit to the tone which can be really nice (I sometimes leave it on all the time with the controls set to 0 just to add to the od tone). It may not be the best on the market but for the price you cannot beat it. I believe its true bypass, too.

Aramat Tubular Tremolo. Handmade, true bypass, very warm transparent vintage type tremolo. Also, turning the depth and speed controls off and cranking the volume a bit makes for a nice clean boost. $149.

last night i finished up a BYOC. tremelo. my first pedal build. it was easy, fun and sounds great. I don't use tremelo enough to justify some of the prices out there, but the BYOC kit definately has the tone, it just takes some time to build and finish the case.
