Well the G.A.S. got to me again and I just bought a Timmy from a guy over on the gearpage.net forum. I should see it next week. I hope it lives up to all of the hype.
Anybody here have one?

Had one for the longest time. I was in a love/not so much love relationship with it. The one thing that kept me from selling it was the maker Paul C. He is such a great guy. It is a cool box but always seemed to be a bit dark for my tastes. It never had the "magic" I was looking for. And instead of hoarding it, I passed it onto someone else. To me it seemed to work better in a Fender amp.

I love my Timmy - it's been my main OD since I got it in November. I'd love a higher-gain pedal with the same EQ (pre-OD bass, post-OD treble). It's also fun to experiment with swapping chips around.

I've had a Timmy now for about 3-4 weeks and I absolutely love it. Probably the most transparent, amp-like pedal I've ever played. Wait, did I say pedal?!?! It doesn't even sound like one's there! Very interactive EQ and the volume acts as a wonderful boost option. I currently run it before my OCD, set at a light-to-medium gain, and stack the OCD on top of it to get thicker lead tones. This pedal will probably never leave my pedalboard.

Where do you get other chips for the Timmy please? I got some from Small Bear and some from DigiKey. I'm using a Burr-Brown chip in my Timmy now - I can't remember what the part number is. Do a search over on the Gear Page forums and you can find a bunch of info on different chips. jz

I've had a few Timmy pedals. They sounded good but I was looking for something else. I swapped out the stock chip for a different one. I think it was an LM1458 or something like that. It smoothed out the gain even more and I really liked the tone. I've been thinking of getting another one but right now I am completely happy with my Klon so it's hard for me to justify the expense.

Well I got the Timmy. I really like it allot for low gain dirt/breakup. It's a very transparent pedal....even slightly more than my Barber Silver LTD that I'm always raving about.
I ordered 4 different chips from Small Bear Electronics for the whopping sum of $5.80 shipped. For six bucks, I thought I'd have some fun swapping chips for different sounds.

I am thinking of getting a Timmy or at least getting on the waiting list, but I did a google search and could not find a website or any stores that sell them. Only Ebay Does anyone out there know a dealer or who to contact to get on the waiting list. Mark

You have to contact Paul Cochran directly to get on the list for a Tim/Timmy. Unfortunately with the Gear Page being down again, I cant find the #. I have a Tim and I absolutely love it. I have the LM1458 chip in it and that one is just magic for me. Very clear and transparent and also very smooth. It can be smoother than my Zendrive with that chip. I also really like and use the second stage on the Tim quite a lot for a lead sound. Great pedal.

Hi, Just a heads up on Paul's phone number: Its 615-896-8555. Paul has been an absolute gentleman and a real pleasure to do business with! I had the opportunity to meet him at the January 2006 NAMM show. Very caring person and incredibly knowledgeable. He also is the amp designer for Heritage amps. I have had my Tim pedal since last July. I love it. Great tone, separate bass, treble, and, the boost section really adds another dimension. Enjoy! Rick

Bought my Timmy second hand from a forum member. Love it. I run the overdrive at around 9:00 and use it directly after my Keeley compressor. It sounds awesome. It lives up to the hype of a transparent OD for sure. You will not be disappointed with the Timmy. It is killer. 6strang

Thanks for the info and special thanks to Rick (dei305) for the phone number, you get some karma for that one. I looked everywhere for it yesterday. Mark

I can't get him to answer the phone. I've tried twice. You get a message that says to try again, no voicemail. I'll try a couple of more times and then I'll give up.

Hey Billy, Don't give up on Paul. He and his products are well worth your effort in trying to reach him. I live in East-coast time. I must have tried him 4 or 5 times at first to reach him. I was able to get in touch between 9:30-11:30PM eastern. I'm blown away at what the prices are on ebay or any other place other than Paul direct. I found out about the "Tim" pedal from this very forum, ever since I realized my life was totally incomplete without a Doctor Z amp! So, please don't give on Paul. Rick

I gave up on Paul. I even left a message one day and got no return call. I'm sure it's just because he's a very busy guy but no pedal is worth that much effort. Pedals are everywhere and none are the be-all end-all so I can live without a Timmy. I like my drivetrain a lot but I'm sure there's at least a half dozen readily available pedals that would be satisfactory.

Well my Timmy arrived this morning and yes; it lives up to the hype. It's a beautiful day outside and I'm on vacation but I'm spending it in the basement. Can't stop playing it. It is so transparent and clear. My other ODs sound muffled in comparison. With my Maz set with some hair, there's probably enough gain from the pedal for me. I haven't played with the dip switches yet. That's next. I ordered some chips from Small Bear too. That should be fun when they come. I might do some clips tonight. Pretty excited about this pedal....seems to be what I've been missing. Cool pedal.

I actually bought it used on the gear page from a guy in Fort Worth. Paid a premium price for it but I'm impatient....couldn't do the 3 or 6 month wait for a new one, whatever it is now.

I don't mind the wait but I do mind not getting him on the phone. For the premium price i would think he could get someone to make them for him and still make a profit. In other words, make more but charge more. get a website, expand, make it a business not a hobby. If there was any way I could make a living for myself in the guitar business, believe me brother I would!!!!!!

I can't understand that either. He could be making so much more money and customers would be more satisfied. Apparently he works for Heritage guitars, designing and making amplifiers for them. He builds the pedals in the evening and weekends if he's not too tired.
Also he sells theTimmy for $99. Every 6 months Musictoyz gets ten pedals and sell them for $150. They got 10 earlier this week and they sold in about an hour. Paul could hire an assembler and charge $150 no problem. I paid $175 for a used one and people pay more than that. The market is there and like any commodity it dictates the price. If people are willing to pay more, the pedals are worth more.
The same goes for Zendrives, Eternitys, KOTs, etc. Some waiting lists are as long as two years. Most manufacturers start as boutique builders and when the demand is there, they expand to satisfy that demand. When do you stop being a boutique and become a manufacturer? I don't think most people mind that their design is assembled by someone else as long as the quality control is there. That would give Paul more time for R&D too.
