The Z-Wreck is a magnificent amp , no doubt. But it's not inexpensive either. How many of you guys that have or are getting one intend to play out with it ? There's gigs where I won't bring my Maz18Jr , let alone a 'Wreck. Juz wonderin'

I will purchase a Max 18 NR for my son.....it will be the next amp I buy and I am pretty sure it will replace his Carr Mercury.

Well I no longer have a steady gig, but if the phone rings and I decide to play out, you bet I'll take the ZW if it fits the venue. No question - how else will I get that mojo?

If I had a Z-Wreck I would gig with it where needed. Why be selfish?

I don't gig but a few times a year but I'll take this thing out without thinking twice. I buy amps to play 'em, always with the anticipation of gigging with 'em. Can't baby the things! Of course, once we tear down, I'm gonna watch the thing like a hawk. That seems to be the time things disappear, or stolen from your car between trips loading out. Mothers! Seems like there's only one nighters around here anymore. If I were playing a two night weekend, I'd probably carry it home over night. jj

I don't play for a living anymore....had to grow up, get a hair cut and a real job!....but when I do, the Z Wreck will be behind me! ;D ... Sat. night will be the first time...at a Shrine Club at the lake in Greenwood , SC...about an hour away. I've never been there, and don't know what kinda place it is, but I will be keeping a close eye on that quantum silver machine~

I'm not sure that I could spend that kind of cash on an amp that would not be gigged. However, my opinion might be different if I didn't play out. Right now, I play 60+ gigs a year, and when I look at amps, the biggest criteria for me is, "Can I gig with this?" I take into consideration things like volume and the size of the venues, etc. I would hate to have an expensive amp and not use it in public. But, again, I might feel differently if I didn't play out. Also, I play in pretty mild establishments.

I am really a "beginer' My kid plays pretty well but he is not a gigger. Personally, the coolest thing I could ever do is play live. I am working on it!

Really interesting responses. So far , looks like the Z-Wreck is gonna be out making some noise by a pretty wide margin.

Appears I'm the first one to vote in between what are basically yes or no. Indoors and on a stage that prevents the audience from tripping, spilling or worse -- yeah, I'd absolutely use it. My typical bar gig or outdoors -- nope. (I had an outdoor gig on Labor Day at a place we play every year. Usually a nice grassy area, and the venue does not provide risers. This year it was a dust bowl. Had to go through all my gear after the gig with a vacuum cleaner.)

That's how I roll too, Mike. we've played outdoors with no shade in 100+ degrees , right next to swimming pools with drunks jumping in, windy rainy gigs , and on more than one occasion drunks stumbling over the amps and sometimes turning around to see someone left a cup of beer on top of my Maz head. I now take a Fender Deluxe VM to those gigs.

I gig practically every weekend with a couple of different bands. I'm definitely going to be using the Wreck on stage. That's why I bought it! MeZa

as Bum Philips (head coach of the Houston Oilers in reference to running back Earl Campbell) once said, if you have a big gun, you want to shoot it! Zwreck is the big gun, gotta shoot it!! Todd

Use it for what it was made for. Delivering blissful tones at greaat volume to shatter any notion that the opening bands tone was even halfway decent. Use what the good Dr gave ya!!!!!!

I wish I could get one. If I did I'd use it for sure. There's tons of amps without metal corners. I have a bunch that I've had myself for over 25 years that I've used on hundreds of gigs and they stayed in pretty much showroom condition.
I've never worried about moving any amp I've owned myself in a Tuki or Studio Slips cover. I've never worried about anybody else moving any amp of mine in a flight case.

If I had one, hell yes I would use it on gigs. Nuthin wrong with a few dings here and there, it adds character. You should see my 73SFTR that I lugged around the Midwest in a U-Haul trailer for about 5 years. The grille cloth is clean where the speakers push air, and yellow "nicotine" stained everywhere else. I used it last weekend on a gig, and will be using it again this Friday night. Nice sounding amp. Not having metal corners is not an issue, as I don't abuse my equipment. MeZa

Played again last night with the Wreck. I'm really liking its tone. Very punchy/spanky, but not overly so. It's got that glassy feel to it. Not too tubby. Hard to describe in words. My guitar strings were very lively when I had the amp cranked. Really opens up the guitar tone. Wonderful, lively clean tones. I had the volume around noon or so. Used it wide open a few times. I also used the Z-verb. It ended up ringing when I wasn't playing one time. My PA guy thought it was the PA. I hit the footswitch and it stopped. Kind of an internal, tube feedback. Had the tone at noon, mix at about 10 o'clock and dwell at around 9 o'clock. Not sure what was happening. It wasn't like I had a full-on reverb cranked. I guess I need to experiment more with it. I'll post this portion in the Z-Verb forum as well, in case anyone has some tips. Overall, really like the Z-Wreck so far live. Kind of opens up and rounds out my tone. MeZa
