dave,
did you get the same great results using your Maz as well as the Ghia? How about using buckers?

Well my BB is here, but won't be able to put sound through it till tomorrow... dagnabbit! Well I like the BB with my bridge pickup (Humbucker) on the strat, but I'm not too fond of it with my neck pickup. I seem to like the Mazerati with just a compressor on that pickup. That's a bit of the Riverdance when switching - think I'll move some things around on the pedal board. The BB definitely gives that Marshall vibe on the bridge pickup though. Not sure if it's a keeper till I play out with it, and that won't be for a week (FINALLY got a weekend off).

Tried it this morning with the PRS Singlecut on bridge pickup through the Mazerati. Definitely some Marshall vibe going there. You have to be real careful with your settings - it can get too bright or too woofy real easy, and the gain knob is similarly touchy, but the sweet spot is there and when you get to it, whoa! Pretty good I think. Still want to get out to a live gig to pass final judgement. I'm hoping I can use the BB with the Mazerati so I can avoid hauling two amps out. It's looking like that will probably work out, so that's a plus for the BB.

One amp is sure better than two at closing, and then unloading, time.

Well I've been working with the BB a bit here, and I'm beginning to think this is the start of a long and loving relationship. It's very transparent, reacts to my guitar volume knob (TOTALLY need this) and can be set up for the amount of grind that I want. There is a PILE of reserve gain if I ever want to set any customers on fire, and I've been able to get the tone set perfect for what I'm trying to do. I do have to say it likes the bridge pickup better than the neck, but that's what I was planning on using with the BB anyway. Very cool. I'm playing on Friday and will get a chance to do a proof run on the gig then. But right now it's looking pretty promising.

I second that observation..................I love the BB with single coils, but not crazy with the humbucker tones..........kinda "blanket over the amp" sounding......or too distorted. Maybe its due to the RT 66, but, I have not been able to get alan hinds humbucker tone from the sounclips.......

All I can tell from the Alan Hinds video is that he's using a Fender amp. Don't know which model or how loud he's got it cranked. This kind of info would've helped understand the sound. Bluz: What does the RC do that you like to leave it on?

Billy, I grabbed an RC in my Charley's episode we are all aware of. Killer stomp box. Two gigs and I am wayyy happy, have not even tweaked it, all dials were at noon outa da box, I had to take the volume down a bit, that's it. Man it just opens up the sound, crazy really. It wakes up any amp, 'Ray, Sr, my new Sewell. Puts hair on it with clarity.
Killer box.

Dave, There wuZ some serious "negotiatin' goin' on" !!!!
an RC & BB were on the must have list and Charley's had them so we worked in the RC, man what a great box. Hard to explain it but I am now firmly in the "Leave it on" camp. It's like it seperates the notes and put a lil Mojo on them at the same time. I could see using two RC's, leave one on and a second for extra dirt/solo's, etc. I'm using it with a Keeley BD-2, a great pair so far.

I finally got to gig the BB Preamp this past weekend, and it's staying on my board. I had to tweak it on site though - the settings I had decided on here at home weren't right for the gig. It always seems to go that way around here - nothing ever sounds the same on the gig. The surprise was that I liked it not just for the Mazerati - it worked pretty nice on my Flexi-50 too. That makes it a keeper in my book. But you all have me wondering about this RC pedal now...

I've never been so happy with a stomp box as I am with the RC booster Period. I can't explain it, just makes it better some how.

Here's my rational...BB for med-high gain tones, RC for a clean boost (clean solo/rhythm work that just needs "more"), then both together for complete insanity. I may have to bring out the minimalist board again...

I may have to bring out the minimalist board again... So are we gonna' see some pro analog stuff in the buy, sell and trade section? I was all set to order a BB but then I bought a new strat so I thought I'd better conserve my money and bought a used HBE power screamer instead. I have a feeling I'll be waiting a couple of weeks and then order a BB anyway, though, knowing me.

I've owned both the AC & the BB. I liked the tone of the AC better. The BB seemed too compressed for my taste. The AC had a good balance of grit & compression.

Oh hell no, the PA stuff is the bee's knee's...but it likes to see a cookin amp to get the best results. High volume is a luxury I can't afford right now...heck I'm not even giggin! But with the BB I'm hoping it will be a grab and go box for sit-in's and jams. I don't like to bast people away on sit-in's and jams.

Well Steve, since I sent you down the trail, If ya don't like the RC, PM me and I'll make good. No need - I've played just a few minutes with it and I can see why people rave. Nice unit. Since I have a new amp to fiddle with here too, it's going to take a couple days to get a thorough test, AND the real test is when I take it out to a gig, but I can already see why you like it. Good pointer! In fact, karma for you for that one.
