Is there harmonic discontent between two guitarists in one band, if one tunes with a Peterson and the other with a Boss or something else entirely? I'm currently a long-term TU-2 user, but I'm starting to GAS for a strobo, if I can actually find a retailer that I like that has one. The other guitarist uses one of those clip-on-your-headstock things. How do you tune a singer? (luckily I don't have that problem...) TIA, mi amigos

well ... depending on the accuracy of the tuners, one might be more in tune then the other, but the issue is a bit more complicated than that since a guitar (by design) can never be perfectly in tune, some guitars tune and more importantly intonate better then others and unless you have Buzz Feiten system retrofitted guitar, chances are no matter how good your guitar is tuned and intonated those open chords will never be in tune ... Also, how hard one presses the strings will also affect the tuning as well as fret hight ... what I'm trying to say is, don't worry you'll be fine ... ;-)

thanks! I'm sure my wallet does not appreciate the response, but I sure do.
Actually, I'm getting to the TU2 by way of a loooper a-or-b switch. Getting the strobo, although it's bigger, will actually allow me to free up some high-value real estate on my board.
iggs, do you use a peterson?

I have one on order (been waiting over 2 months now), I had a Boss TU-2 but found it not accurate enough.

I was very happy with my Boss TU-2 for many years till it started to go funny on me. Then I splurged for a Strobo. It works just as good as anything else I guess, gets me in tune. I'm sure it will come in most handy when intonating a guitar. 6/1, 1/2 dozen the other.

Two different tuners will tune different, even if they are the same brand and model. I noticed this the other night a church. Two of us were playing acoustics and we had the cool chorus sound going on. I plugged into his tuner and he plugged into mine, and they were off a hair. When I played all the time we used the same tuner. Then again, our tuners may be a POC.

I've avoided two guitar bands for the last 30 years because of tuning issues. We didn't have tuners then. Now I see that might not have cured to tuning issues!

I think I'd probably avoid a band that didn't have tuners either. (ha ha ha ) Oh wait, that was the Sunday School choir.....yeah, I avoided that too.
