I read the postings about cables the other day and was wondering what my pedal tuner may or may not be doing to my signal. I can't hear a difference, but what do I know? You tech dudes tell me what's going on with my signal when I plug into my Sabine pedal tuner with the LEDs accross the face. Anything? Are all pedal tuners created equal under the constitution, or are some "more equal" than others, as the saying goes?

Prop, I have a Sabine NEX-5000 and a Boss TU-2. Like 'em both, been using the TU-2 most of the time because of the 'strobe' mode. It's the only pedal I have in line, and I really can't hear any difference. Granted, I can't HEAR... The last time I heard an audible difference when I changed something in my rig was when i added a 'Lyric' cable by Evidence Audio (Thanks, Tony!) I know, snake oil and all that, but I was just playing along and thought, "Dang that sounds good tonight for some reason"...

I love my TU2 because the buffer seems to have a subtle line driving effect. It drives the front end just a hair. It's not a huge difference but I've been using it for so long that it's very noticable to me when it's not there. My friend and I tested it and e noticed the difference right away. Does the TU2 effect my tone? Yes and I love it.

I had that Sabine pedal and sold it. I could hear a difference, major signal loss. It is not what I consider true bypass. I just got a Peterson Strobostomp and it is true bypass and is a much more accurate tuner. With the sabine, you might as well put a $20 Nextune 12z chromatic tuner in front of your speaker and tune that way. I've done it and with either Sabine tuner I would have to fine tune by ear. The Strobostomp is 30x more accurate than LED needles or a digital display. So, yeah, the Peterson is 30x "more equal". I admit some reviews of it reveal some possible issues with the screen or weak plastic jacks, but everyone has been taken care of as far as repairs it seems. But I have never sounded so good. The tuner is incredibly accurate, chords are so tight.

The Strobostomp is kind of fun to watch too. I like it a lot. Bluzsteel says you can see it in the sunlight too. Huge plus! The only tuner I've ever had that was a problem is the old Arion Stage tuner. It's picky about power supplies. If you use a digital power supply, like a One-Spot, it will make a whine noise, so will a Holy Grail.

Yeah, BW. I checked and mine's an NEX-5000 Sabine. Laroosco!! that's nice that you get a little drive with yours. foxx, I DO have to fine tune by ear with mine, too. but you got to do that anyway, due to the fact that the guitar is such a precision instrument, you've got to tune it to your fingers, anyway. billyguitar, now I have to say I can't see mine in the sunlight, but I rarely play outside.

I had WOBO build my switching system with a relay to mute the signal and send the clean line to a tuner out so I wouldn't have to worry about that, but I'll probably still get the Strobo Stomp for its accuracy and function.

My TU2 affected the sound - thinned it out noticably. In the end I switched it out using a Lehle 1@3. It was also a bit flickery and hard to tune sometimes. The strobostomp is great once you learn to 'play' it. Totally transparent, very stable and visible from a range of angles. But keep it way from drummers (see my other thread - resolved with a happy ending though).

I use a Korg DT-7 in the tuner out of my Ernie Ball volume pedal. Not in the signal path, and pedal off allows silent tuning. No problems!
