Well...needless to say, this thing is beautiful. And sounds beautiful as well. It's hard for me to describe how this amps sounds. All the other descriptions from Dr Z and Stu at Fat Sound pretty much say it all better than I can. It reminds me of a giant Maz Jr NR as far as tone and feel. I had a Maz 38 NR and that's not the tone or feel I'm talking about. It's clean sound is wonderfully lush and is the King of Chime and Queen of Sparkle....however, it doesn't have quite as much clean headroom as I was thinking it might, but, at 30 watts, what was I thinking As most amps...the Strat has way more clean volume than the Les Paul. Speaking of pickups, this is another of those amps that seem to shine more with single coils. (Again, I'm thinking Maz Jr) Don't get me wrong, my Les Paul sounds amazing through it! Another thing that is very noticeable is the note bloom and sustain...and I mean at clean volumes...I've never heard this from an amp and it only intensifies as you turn the volume to the right. ;D I had to make sure my comprossor was not on...oh wait...I'm plugged straight in...lol... This is one fine musical instrument and I can only imagine what it will sound like when these speakers get broken in. I have put about 7 hrs playing time on it last night and today...my fingers are raw! I haven't played this much straight in a while! All I can say is thanks to Dr Z, all his men ,Humbucker Music and you guys for making my amp quest complete! I have a classic rock gig in 3 weeks and this is the rig I'll use:

Howdy everyone,
Long-time lurker, first time poster on these boards. You guys have a great community here.
Just wanted to echo what others have said already, in particular the reviews from Stu and Mark. I think Mark's comment about note bloom and sustain at clean volumes really hits the nail on the head. I've never heard anything like it - it makes playing feel completely organic and virtually effortless. In a word I'd call this amp "stunning." I've owned so many amps over the last 20 years that I've lost count, and this one blows them all away.
My first (and only other) Z was a Maz 38, and that also blew me away when I first got it. It was so versatile and well-matched to my playing that I thought it would be the last amp I'd ever buy. Over time I started to long for a certain tone that I could get close to but couldn't quite capture. Then I saw Brad play in Ohio this past summer, apparently on the night that Doc brought him his new Z-Wreck... and there it was, the tone in my head. You know when you can recognize something like that in a huge live venue, with all of the acoustical limitations that come along with that, that it has to be amazing.
Anyway, I left that show determined to get on the waitlist as soon as it was possible to do so, and I've been waiting patiently ever since. The Z-Wreck finally arrived last night, and what a night it was. I spent hours exploring it - with pedals (which it takes well, by the way), without pedals, clean, dirty, you name it. Hours went by and I was left feeling like I'd only scratched the surface of what this amp was capable of. Can't wait to get to know it better over time.
Anyway, I'm blown away enough that I thought it deserved a post - just to say THANKS Doc and Ken, for this amazing gift to the world.

Thanks Tom! I'm really enjoying getting to know this amp and am more please by the minute! ;D It's really breaking in quite nicely. Here is a testing session setup from the other day~ I brought my Maz Jr up after the photos and it seemed to gel VERY nice with the Z Wreck! The Remedy and Ghia both sounded great too, but there was something special with the Wreck & Maz Jr together...

I spent another few hours with this fine amp again yesterday. Another thing that's interesting is how interactive the Treble & Bass controls are. The Treble being the more interesting of the two. With the cut at noon and the Treble off, it still has plenty of highs. (This amps has mucho highs, sorta like the RXES, but not as stinging,, much more smooth--easy on the ears )... As the Treble is turned up to noon the mids really crank...then turning the Treble from noon to 5 O'clock the mids decrease and become very scooped at the full Treble setting. Very interesting. Again the Doc's tone stack is much different than the standard tone controls of "normal" amps. And again...noon on the Treble & Bass just a wonderful, full, glorious sound with the amp really coming to life about 10 O'clock on the volume knob. Cut at 9 to 12 to taste. And as others have said, the amp really takes pedals very well! However, as sensitive as this amp is, overdrive pedals may need to be tweeked. My KoT sounds stellar- as was- while the ZenDrive needed some tweeking. Also, I noticed that my T-Rex Replica sounded too sterile until the "brown" button was activated. This is a very articulate amplifier. The speakers are smoothing out, and I thought about this from the beginning, but the Blue may get changed to a Gold before it's all said and done. I hate to mess with the Doc's original recipe, but this thought keeps popping up. We'll see after I give plenty of break-in time. This weekend will be my first gig with my Z Wreck and I can't wait to put it to the "real" test! ...I'm sure it will excel with flying colors.

I'm really , really anxious to hear what it sounds like at your gig Mark. I'll be looking for that post! I'll let you know here tomorrow Frank... I can't wait either. I am really looking forward to tonight! Going to start packing right now. I am tempted to take only the Z Wreck so I can get the full, undisturbed sound of the amp, but will probably take another Z to make full use of my stereo chorus/leslie sound and reverb. ps...this thing is sounding better and better.... ;D pss...thanks for the comments BurstBucker & trevorb

Ok....My Z Wreck's first night out! Let me just say, while others may disagree..or even cringe...I like my Z Wreck clean and cleanish, so I go straight up, no attenuation. With the Strat, it's pristine clean and the Les Paul is clean w/ hair. This amp was just GLORIOUS last night!! Just plain fantastic!! I didn't expect anything less, but it was so cool hearing this sound with a band in a club setting. Luckily the place had good acoustics and had a stage covered with carpet on the floor and back & side wall's which made for a good dead sound stage to launch from. The clarity combined with the richness of my sound was amazing. When I stepped on my dirt boxes, ( King of Tone, and AstroFuzz ) all my needs were filled with NO exceptions. I'm at a loss for words here on how wonderful it FELT and sounded. The night was over WAY to quickly. I was just a hired gun last night and I haven't been playing in clubs in the past several years, ( Mainly in church and other similar type settings ) however, this AMP has got me itching to start my own band and play again more frequently as the fun factor was back in a WAY BIG WAY!! ;D Once again...a big THANK YOU to Dr Z for making this amp available to the general public as it has re-ignited my passion to get out and make myself and countless others smile! Awesome amp...I love it more each time I plug in.

Mark:
Did the MAZ Jr get any play time last night? If yes, what did you use it for: different sound (a/b with Wreck), stereo, etc.?
Thanks.

That is so cool Mark! I love amps (and guitars) that actually inspire your playing. Thanks for your review , there is definitely one in my future (someday). That's an interesting question Mike asks there. It's pretty cool you had both amps at the gig.

Mark: Did the MAZ Jr get any play time last night? If yes, what did you use it for: different sound (a/b with Wreck), stereo, etc.? Thanks. I use a 2 amp set up all the time. Both amps on all the time, both set clean/cleanish. The "bigger" amp being the main amp and my remote amp is used for my true stereo output on my aNaLoG.MaN bi-chorus and I run my WET reverb through that amp only. When the chorus pedal is off, it's still the dry signal coming through the "remote" amp. I find the sound of 2 amps on all the time adds another dimension to the sound...not necessarily volume. I would love to ultimately have 2 Z Wrecks for this setup. While I can see the arguments and view points of and amp set dirty and use the guitar volume roll back to clean up, I find, for me, I can get a broader range of tones and sounds from a clean/cleanish setting and various pedals AND guitar volume together. I had originally planned to use my Remedy along side my Z Wreck for this gig, but the Maz Jr seemed to gel better in this set-up. The Remedy just may be too much of a "headliner" to use as a "remote" amp. The Remedy as the "main" amp in my set up is awesome as well. Back to the Z Wreck...another thing I failed to mention is the way it's full & fat at the same time it cuts through the mix wonderfully. Last night was a 3 piece so cutting through was a non factor, at the same time if I was playing with a 13 piece band the same would be true.
