alright so i just bought my first Z. it's a blonde 1x12 monza :-)
first off i would like to say that even though this is my first Z amp, it is by far one of the best amps i have ever owned and i've been playing for about 20 years.
this 20 watt 1x12 monza is louder than my silver face fender twin. like how is that even possible?!?
i tried out the Maz 18 Junior NR with EQ Bypass and a monza 2x10 also a Carmen Ghia 1x12
all 3 were nice amps, but when i plugged into the monxa 1x12 with a BL i was sold.
one thing i have noticed is that it doesn't take much to make this bad boy break up and i mean fast. i have a BL and i have noticed if i just leave the BL off and roll back the volume on my guitar i can get some nice clean sounds, but my main question here is.......
if i get another 1x12 cab, will this help me make the amp any cleaner at louder volumes?
and as far as live playing .....i'm pretty sure this amp will be plenty loud by itself , but....
i was thinking about maybe just getting an amp stand to help project the sound over the room. what do you think??
off the subject i also just bought Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano Reverb Pedal. i HAVE to have some reverb when i'm playing and this was just the ticket.
it's cheap , it sounds like a reverb, and it's a pretty nice pedal. i only turn the knob up about a quarter ....anything pass that is just flooded with useless noise.( in my opinion).
anyway any ideas on if i get another 1x12 cab if it will help me get some cleaner sounds at louder volumes??
thanks

sorry, can't help, I have never tried to play my cleanly lol I have noticed that if I come off the volume on my guitar I can clean it up a bit but I have never really tried hard to clean it up. I love it!! A second 1 x 12 cab may help but I have not tried it, I might have a 1x12 in the house in a couple of weeks so I can try it and let you know Todd

A second cab may get you more volume, but it's probably a case of try before you buy.
Here's something else to try:
1. Set your BL to zero -- no attenuation. Turn Volume all the way down on the Monza and your guitar. Set Drive to 3 o'clock or even higher. Put Tone around 10 o'clock.
2. Bring the amp volume up a little, say to 8:30. Start bringing your guitar volume up and see how it sounds and how high you can go while keep a pretty clean tone.
3. Back the guitar volume down a bit and move the amp volume up a bit.
Repeat 2 and 3 to suit, then adjust Tone and, possibly, tweak Drive to see what it does at this point.
I found this worked pretty well when I used a 1x12 open-back cab with an EV in it. That speaker stays quite clean (and bright) even with a lot of power applied.
Not sure if this will help -- you may already have tried it -- but it's one way to dial in a clean tone. (I was using a Strat for this exercise, btw.)

Sounds like way too much trouble. Why even try to get a clean tone from an amp that was designed to be dirty?

i dont recall the front end on it, but you may be able to put a lower gain tube in V1, and that may help.

thanks for the info guys.
so far i have found the best way for me to get some loud cleans is to turn off the BL and roll off the guitar volume a bit. i'm not too worried about getting super cleans from this amp. i love the way it sounds over driven. but it's nice to get some cleans in there too. i was thinking that if i got a whole extra speaker that would maybe open up some more space for clean tones.
