I have a Boss DD-20 that is uber-functional, but I think it does affect the tone of my Mazerati a bit. Is there such a thing as an analog-sounding delay pedal that is true bypass....and doesn't cost eighteen quadrazillion bucks? I bet the answer is a big fat NO. ;D

The moog one is nice, but it costs about a quadrazillon. There is a company in nova scotia called diamond effects that make a good analog delay www.diamondpedals.com and they have nice clips (and they use a ghia!). Their delay is only about 400 US.

The Line 6 DL4 is true bypass, mimics analog pedals such as the Boss Analog Delay, Echoplex, and Memory Man, and has three presets available.
It not real boutique and cool, but it sounds good and seems to show up on a lot of pro boards that I see.

I've been gigging with the Line 6 DL4 for several years and it does the trick. But after listening to the TREX, the difference in sound quality is undeniable. TREX - digital, sounds great - 430.00 TC ELECTRONICS vintage delay - the Exact same pedal as the TREX, for I've heard 300.00 Diamond Pedals Memory Lane - analog with tap tempo and swithable modulation - clips sound good. 429.00 I'm leaning toward the Memory Lane.

The Line 6 DL4 runs $249 and offers 3 footswitchable presets. It also does a Memory Man modulated delay which the others don't. I've never heard the TRex/TC E or the Diamond units, but I'm sure they sound a bit better. For $400 and up they should. But for the price and the features (including a couple not found on the others) the Line 6 is worth a look.

I just ordered the Memory Lane. I'm getting it directly from Diamond Pedals, no shipping charges and they let you keep it for a week to decide if you want to keep it. Most companies will give you 48 hours to maybe 5 days, but a week it great. I bet most people don't send it back. Hey doc001, I was pretty sure that the TTE is true bypass, it should be for $1200. I'd rather spend less and have more "on the fly" control, get the stereo pan thing that Diamond Pedals is coming out with, and a volume pedal. I'm sure the TTE has it's advantages in the studio, but I want to go into space and back when I want and have the tap tempo.
