I've had access to almost every classic amp over the years except for original Fender tweeds. I've never been able to get convincing stones type crunchy, raw and yet defined, rhythm sounds found in tunes like Brown Sugar, Start Me Up, etc. Can the Galaxy get me there?

I was wondering this too. It seems like the Doc doesn't have an amp with these types of tones. The Galaxie sounds very interesting.

Well, I had only been playing my new Galaxie with my Strat since I got it, but last night I plugged in a Tele just to see how it would sound through the new amp, and I was totally caught off guard. I thought the amp sounded great with a Strat, but it seems like it was made with a Tele in mind. The tweed channel cranked up just past half way gave in to a really nice old school rock type crunch with a good punch and articulation to boot. I could totally see getting Stones type tone with this channel and a Tele. This channel broke up a little sooner with my Tele compared to the Strat, so maybe that's what I like best about this setup.

I don't own a Galaxie, but I played one trough a closed-back Bogner 2x12 with a tele tuned to open G. IMHO, the clean channel can definitely do early 70's Keef tones, but you have to get the master above noon, and that's pretty loud. again, I was using a tele, so I'm sure that hotter pickups or 'buckers would make it break up sooner.
