Hello, Somewhat 'new' here. Been lurking but finally registered and starting to participate. However, NOT new to the Z camp. Wasn't exactly sure just where to post this since it'll cover several models, but since my #1 rig is the Ghia, figure here we go (move if appropriate). Anyway, the Mazerati wasn't as anticipated (a bigger, badder, bolder Ghia). But I just simply LOVE my CG! (SS#J.7251) Just bought my a Route-66. can't wait for its arrival. I'll post picts of the Ghia and the 66 when she arrives over in the Gallery. Looking forward to seeing you 'round. ;D

The Ghia has a springy, bouncy feel that you can't get with bigger amps. That may be what you like, the way it feels. Just one of the facts of life.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a 66 owner and I may be buying a Ghia next, so when you get your 66, please post a little comparison about the 66 and Ghia. Thx.

The Ghia with a closed backed Z Best, an OCD, and the medium gain box of your choice is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get a bad sound out of, and it covers just about any size room. It's what I take now whenever I want a foolproof, great sounding gig or audition.

Well put tj. I've found myself using less and less pedals on my board since I got the ghia. I can get so many sounds with just my Direct Drive and AD-900 delay.

OK Johnny, I'm officially banning myself from reading any of your posts. ;D Actually, I need to ban myself from being in HERE! (CG section) Littlec, the Route 66 is my favorite amp in the world at this point in time, it's a pretty hard amp not to like, and speakers will have a big impact on how you want it to sound. Happy playing.

Tas, I know what you mean re: speakers. Right now I have the custom built 2x10 with Celestion Vox blue. I am having Bob build me a new cab with a slant baffle for a 1x10 1x12. Not sure what speakers to put in there. I was leaning Celstions, but I have been reading raves about the new Emi's over on TGP. There's also a 1x12 cab in my near future. I think a key to these cabinets are that they are Pine. Anyway, what are you using? Well put tj. I've found myself using less and less pedals on my board since I got the ghia. I'm using a stock ZBest (G12H/V30) and an Ulbrick 1-12 with a custom made Celestion Heritage V35 speaker, which is like a tamed Vintage 30 or a Greenback with tighter bottom end. My brother in law has a Z 4-10 cab but one of the speakers isn't working. It still sounds OK but I don't want to judge that cab until I hear it in perfect working order. I've also heard some good things about the Emi's, I think my friend was raving about the legend but I'm not sure.

Ive had the pleasure of playing a RT66 through a custom built 10/12 cab that had Eminence Legend speakers in it (105 and 125)...that makes for a fairly bright cab that cuts through well and remains clear when pushed. I had to work my tone control a little more than usual with that setup but I liked it...it was like playing through a real thick twin reverb if that makes sense. Some SRVish tones to be had with those speakers as well.

Russian baltic birch is probably the best you can find. Think of the speaker baffle as the top of a fine acoustic guitar. The instrument gets its sound from the vibration of the soundboard. The better the wood, the better the sound. Speaker cabs are no different. Look into it. www.drzamps.com/speakercabs.htmlwww.johnson-amp.com/cabinets.htmwww.mojomusicalsupply.com/cgi-bin/mojotone/custom.html
