comps are like fuzzes to me...lot's of flavors....lot's of really good flavors in fact....and like fuzzes i like having a bunch for different reasons....i like an old boss cs-1 for some things....not so much for others....
but push comes to shove....my favorite today is an analogman juicer...i use fender's with singles coils and usually a carmen ghia and a tweed bassman ri or tranynor head on at the same time...the juicer has some grit to it's tone that i really like....
also on my board is an older block logo dynacomp....and i've been pretty happy with a marshall ed-1 in the past.....
i still want to get a keeley...and a barber...and finally a blackbox....the keeley is a ross cloneish one right?.....in the past i've tended to like my dynacomp better then most ross style comps...BUT...i've not been able to try a keeley for long periods of time.....

I have a Blackbox Oxygen. Really great pedal but 6 knobs! I use a Guyatone ST-2 that's really clear and only pumps as much as you want it to. Very small also. I put big knurled knobs on it and I can adjust whille playing with my shoe. Battery access sucks but I use a one spot anyway. Isn't the Analogman Bicomprossor actually two compressors in one?

I have the AnalogMan CompRossor and have used the Keely. To me I can't really tell the difference. Likley because they both make exceptional products and at that level it gets to be diminishing returns between the two pedals.

I have the CompROSSor from Analogman. Both of these pedals from Analogman and Keeley are very well spec'd clones of the vintage Ross Compressor that is very highly regarded. The component differences are extremely minor if there are any at all in this type of pedal, usually the only modifications from the original is a 9V input jack for use with a modern power supply, improvements to efficiency that don't alter the sound too much (noise/clarity issues) or allowing further control of a component previously hidden inside (like the "Attack" control on the CompROSSor, which I believe is an option on the Keeley, but I can't remember- this controls delaying the compression so that your string attack comes through with dynamics- I turn it all the way up, I think center was the factory setting on the original Ross).
I really like the Ross for a clean sound, with the attack setting really high and the sustain around 3:00 or so, it brings out every note you play nicely and you can still get a really good attack sound- I don't use a pick, so this is really great as you can get very different sounds out of your finger attack that come through really nicely. It's smooth, and almost has a slow subtle phase to the sound- good for Albert King sounds! I like it a lot- I would like to try a Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer compressor pedal- which is supposed to be kind of nastier sounding, very popular with Knopfler, which is great. Analogman and Tone Factor have versions I'd like to try, analogman also has a pedal with comprossor and the orange squeezer circuit- very cool.
I imagine the Keeley is very much the same in sound and probably matches the quality of the Analogman, which is superb.
