Thinking about upgrading from my V30 in an avatar cube 112 cab to another speaker. May have an opportunity to trade for a gold, which as far as i can tell is kind of like a high powered blue.
I'm still in college and living in relatively tight spaces so during the week can't really play too loud.
Will the gold still give me a decent low-volume clean tone and sound great cranked or should I wait for a blue?
Also, how efficient is the gold compared to a v30?
Thanks, I don't know much about speakers to be honest.

I regularly run my ghia head through the gold in my maz 1x12 combo cab and it sounds great! Haven't tried a blue, but can't fault the gold.

I think you'll be happy. The Gold and the Blue, from what I've heard are very similar. The Gold needs to be pushed a little more to give up the goods, but it'll be a great clean tone and sound great cranked.
FWIW, I'm getting ready to order a 1x10 with a Gold...

I have both speakers and they are both great. The Gold will sound great with your Ghia and will give you more options if you ever want to push it with a more powerful amp. That said, if I were gonna use it with only the Ghia, I'd get the blue. It will get the sweet spot sooner and has a tad more sparkle and chime than the Gold. But like I said, you can't go wrong with either!~

I've tried both and I prefer the Gold over the Blue in a 1x12 application. It depends on what you are looking for though. I think the Gold is a more balanced speaker but it still retains the upper mid character and chime of the Blue. Many people think the Ghia\Blue is the perfect match.

Both are great, but I've been running the Ghia through a Gold for quite a while. I always loved the Blue, and you can't go wrong with one with the Ghia, but for me, the Gold is it. The Gold doesn't distort like the Blue, which I like when I'm using OD's or dirt pedals. Both speakers are loud compared to a Greenback, etc. FWIW, the Ghia sounds great with every speaker.

The Vintage 30, Gold, Blue, 12H30 - are ALL "100db sensitivity level" speakers... The "Greenbacks" & 10" Gold speakers are 98db... tom

Late but... I run my Ghia through a 1x12 Z cab with Celestion Gold. It is kinda the best speaker to my ears, after trying most of them Eminence, Celestion, WGS, Jensens, and others. I do also enjoy it with my 2x12 open back Z cab with 2 Greenbacks, my other favorite speaker.
One last comment: the Ghia sounds VERY "sweet" through the newer 90W Celestion Creamback AlNiCo. Sounds sort of "softer" than the Gold, with all note being heard super clear and defined.

Keep in mind....this is a 7 year old thread...
Not that it won't help anyone, but don't respond thinking you're helping the original poster.
