You might like the Fulldrive. Between the Flat Mid/Vintage swich, and 2 boost settings, this should probably fit the bill. I has plenty of gain/saturation available, and is not very "middy".

Mine does not have the switch. The Fulldrive is a great overdrive, but I need a little more "nasty", but not fuzz.

Hey Bluzsteel! I agree about the Fulltone. I'm looking for less drive. After listening to the sound samples for the ZenDrive, I'm itchin to get my hands on one. Have you tried one or heard one in action?

Hey blue. I would consider a trade. My fulldrive 2 has the pull up-comp cut on the volume knob. I think it may be an older unit, but it is like new with the box. Email me your phone number and I will call you.
As far as the Zendrive goes, I think I read where Zac said Brad is using one. The sound clips on their web page sound great, but I am getting close to that sound with the Xotic AC pedal.

Have you had any trouble with the push pull pot , I hear people are always stepping on the com cut when its out

Hey- Might have a solution for your need for a pedal to get a high gain tone with the Ghia. For 150$ off of Ebay, I picked up a Hughes and Kettner Tube Factor. The pedal is a 12ax7 (driven at 300 volts) fed two channel pedal. The first channel is more like a regular overdrive, but the second channel is high gain. It's very Bogner like, really nice high gain distortion. The only drag is that there is not a separate volume control for each channel. The tone control goes between vintage and modern tones, with a litlle scooping of the mids for modern. I recently unloaded a lot of gear, including the pedal and a Gibson Les Paul deluxe, but with that pedal between the LP deluxe and a cranked Ghia w/ Z best cab, it was pretty amazing. Scoop the mids and you're in Master of Puppets territory (kachunk kachunk). I liked the vintage voicing w/ the high gain channel the best, leads were thick and not compressed w/ pedal incompatibility as has been the case with a lot of OD pedals and the Ghia. The low gain channel is an overdrive with flatter mids than a tube screamer, but in that same vein. Not a bad pedal for high gain applications. I recently unloaded mine for 10$ more than I paid for it on Ebay- liked the pedal, but I'm a blues player and the Ghia is fine for that w/o pedals. These go for like 280$ new, so used is the way to go. Anyway, best high gain pedal I have played through the Ghia. Probably a lot more gain to be had w/ full sized humbuckers - the LP deluxe has weaker powered minihumbuckers- Regardless, with this pedal the clarity was still there with the Ghia. I was very very impressed for its ability to generate nice metal/high gain tones with that Lil Old tube amp...

Hey Blue. I guess I could see someone hitting the comp cut, but they would have to have very BIG feet, or one to many pops!!! With the comp-cut pulled out, it is almost over powering. I like it in, much easier to control. The more I play with it, the better it is sounding. I think the Fulltone is better for mild overdrive and my AC boost may be my more agressive sound.
Has anyone played with Alf's Grinder pedal? I was checking out the Zendrive and ran across the Grinder. Both of these pedals sound awsome, totaly different, but who wants their kids to be the same!!

ProAnalog Dual Drive sounds great with any amp, but especially a Z. I keep coming back to this pedal. I like the hotter setting a whole lot.

I've got a Prescription ES and needed some pretty serious yet still controllable crunch. I picked up a Fulltone Distortion Pro and it is perfect. You can still use your volume knob to great effect but wide open on the guitar the crunch and sustain is amazing. Previous to the Fulltone I used a Valveboy, which is a twin 12 AX7 pedal and pretty sweet in it's own right. I also tried an Ibanez Tube Screamer which gave me little to no love. I also have pretty good results with the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster. You can get "real" distortion out of the amp without a traditional overdrive. You're just hitting the amp's front end so hard it sings. Very musical and usable. Really brings out the "AC-30" leanings of the circuitry. Course, this is all subjective.

with my ghia i like an old mxr distortion+ or a voodoo labs overdrive, the one they don't make anymore...very similar to the d+......or the voodoo labs superfuzz, which while a fuzz can do some cool drive sounds too....
i also like the ibanez la metal...but i seem to be the only one who does....and it doesn't always work with the ghia......but worth a try if you find one cheap....

I had a Carmen Ghia for quite a while and the absolute best and most organic and amp-like sounding OD i ever played with it..was an old MXR Distortion II Only problem with those is that some of the chips used were not the same..so each unit doesn't sound identical. But man was that unit awesome with the Ghia
