I have the Cornish LD-1 Line driver, not an effect as such but it does what it says it will. I have friends who use the SS3, P2 and G2 to great effect. If you can afford it do it I would say. Only problem is usually the wait for delivery, typically 12 months!

They are very expensive due to our weak Dollars to British Pounds and really hard to get, well at least here in the States.

They are very expensive due to our weak Dollars to British Pounds and really hard to get, well at least here in the States. I couldn't agree more, try converting to Indian Rupees, an arm and a leg is what it is! I'm not ready to hit that diminishing returns curve as yet. Doc's prices never seem to amaze me. I figured I'm better off getting another Z head and a tonebone, plus the waiting is a putt off. I was told 9 months for a standalone unit. Thanks to Pete's posts, I'd forgotten such a thing existed, remember reading about it pre tube amp / Z days. I agree with you Darkside, sounds like you've played them all, I almost pulled the trigger on the P2, but the youtube vids weren't convincing enough, then I found out about the tonebone, to his credit maybe they are dead quiet too, but how quiet can it get with single coils and high gain?

Which PC units were you looking at? I was so after the P2 but settled on a Stomp Under Foot violet rams head clone for far less $$$ and it was available straight away!
I still long for the P2 G2 and SS3 of course! ;D

The P2 initially, but as you say, the three do sound like a rather good investment, in my case after a few more Dr.Z amps. Lately I've been back to going straight in the amp, just the kind of music I'm playing these days I suppose.

I've played a couple and and i was not impressed. Too much hype. And if you look at them...the circuit is pretty much a complete copy of something else. no thanks...i'll pass. check it out here... www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9255they dissect the G2 and it's just a Big Muff copy. Save your money and buy another Z. jacques

I have the SS-3, G-2, P-2 and NG-2. I also have 4 of his instrument cables which are very nice. IMO people that don't like can't afford them. Built like tanks and great tone. I just got the NG-2 a really like it...........so did my son and the next thing I knew he had it on his board...................

I can afford them just fine. I just choose to spend my money elsewhere... Knowing what i know about building pedals and amps. there is no way that i'm gonna pay almost the same amount of money as a Ghia and wait for God knows how long....for something that cost about $15 worth of parts and looks like a C grade high school science project. Never mind that fact that it's a copy of a pedal that cost $79 at musicians friend. would you pay millions of dollars for a "copy" of the Mona Lisa? don't think so. I'm sorry if this sounds a bit sarcastic...but come on.... don't try to justify the fact that you like something that's stupidly expensive, with the fact that if someone else doesn't like it, it must be because they can't afford it. That's just rude. Sorry for the rant. Jacques

You are a brave man I hope you like it! Ether way it's a win as there are lots of folk who'll pay a premium to get them without the wait I hear. Personally, after much thinking about it, I felt the PC pedals are unethical as far as it's price of admission is concerned, goes against the very grain of everything good the doc is doing. Just my personal opinion, and of course I could be very wrong but I guess I don't care to wait 9 months to find out in this particular case.

One thing to bare in mind with Pete Cornish stuff, is Pete's philosophy of taking a powerful amp with LOTS of headroom and setting it CLEAN. Then adding the pedals. I don't think his stuff is really designed for 18 watt amps or with amps that are being pushed. I'm sure they would sound OK, but to get the best out of them you probably need to apply them as designed. I'm sure the pedals would sound much better in Darksides' EZG than someones' Ghia. Pete would probably prefer a 100 watt amp with a solid state rectifier.

More likely. yes i will agree that "some" pro players use them... but more don't. and i'm sure it's not because of money. i've never seen brad paisley with one. and just because someone famous bought one... doesn't mean its good. lots of famous people owned a Stutz Blackhawk (car) and it was an overpriced piece of junk. now please don't get me wrong...i don't think Cornish pedals are junk. I just don't think that they're worth anywhere NEAR what he's charging for them. and that's just MY opinion. but on the other hand... Paul Cochrane's Timmy pedal is a completely original design, handmade it the USA, built like a tank and he charges under $150 for it. the "boutique" pedal world is so full of smoke-and-mirrors that unless you look under the hood, most people have no idea what is REALLY in the pedals. They'll tell you it's brand new and totally original....but they probably took an old design and changed 1 or 2 parts. and in ALL of the cornish pedals i've seen, i haven't seen ONE original design. just tweaks. eh....don't impress me. anyway...sorry to rain on someone's parade. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And i made mine with my wallet. Jacques

Last year, I emailed PC directly.. asking how long for a TB-83. He put one in the mail, same day! There must still be such a great follow on the TB-83.. he might have some in-stock now. The TB-83 is his "bread 'n butter". For me, it's one of those elusive pieces that really mattered.. something that I never thought I could own as a youth.. and, it's not readily available [at GC or MF] for any punk kid with some birthday money.

The Pete Cornish SS-3 an G-2 arrived today! I was more than a little nervous plugging them in, it's a dream come true moment having these on my board, but what if they are a dissapointment? Fear not effects freaks! These are absolutely stunning. The SS-3 or soft sustain is truly sumptuous. From nearly clean tones to thich bluesy lead tones it delivers in spades! I use it with the gain at 11.00 and it delivers thick creamy but nearly clean tones, almost like a compressor would, long note sustain with excellent definition. The G-2 is a different beast altogether. Germanium based overdrive, it has a wonderfully organic feel, full on sustain and cutting tone, does everything I hoped and more. Very addictive pedal! What hit me most was that although I run a compressor in front of it there was virtually no noise when it was engaged, no horrendous feedback as experienced with my other OD pedals in the same role, very controllable but full on gain! Love it! I know they are a lot of cash but if you want the best quality, and without doubt the best signal/noise ratio this is where it's at. Place your order now to avoid dissapointment!

I apologize for my unnecessary remark about the unethical pricing.

The Pete Cornish pedals are staggeringly good! My EZG50 is the perfect platform for them, good big clean tone with lots of headroom. ST-2 on order to fill the gap! lol

Had to be done. I play in a Pink Floyd tribute so the tone is critical.
