Were the all the Trainwreck amps generaly capable high gain? I heard a review of different anp and the refference to Trainwreck or Dumble high gain was brought up. Just wondering sense we are now talking about Z-Wreck being a high gain amp.

I think they are probably quite different, and somewhat similar as well. The Mazerati GT is a gain monster though - so much so that on my first attempt at doing a clip with it, the amp spontaneously erupted into controlled feedback. It was a total blast to play: Someone wants to know how much gain this amp has. Thus:
Grosh Bent Top Custom (bridge bucker) > Mazerati GT > Airbrake (bedroom max) > Celestion Alnico Gold
GT Settings: Tone: all the way to the left Volume: all the way to the right
GTWideOpen.mp3 And a bit of Tele volume control work: Roll Back Check:
Grosh Retro Classic VT > Mazerati GT > Airbrake (Bedroom full) > Celestion Alnico Gold
GT Settings: Tone: Noon Volume: Noon
GT_WildThenMild.mp3 I made my best slide clip ever with this amp: PRS (bridge humbucker) > Mazerati GT > Airbrake (Bedroom full) > 1x12 Convertible (closed back, V30)
Volume at 9 o'clock Tone at noon
Reverb and slight compression added in Pro Tools
Bit-o-GTSlide.mp3 Wish I could have kept it! How all that compares to the Z-Wreck, only those who have played the 'wreck can tell you for sure...

The GT is very reminiscent of a Liverpool, but I had thought that the Z-Wreck was supposed to be more like a Rocket. Rockets don't have anywhere near the gain that an Express or Liverpool do.

Hey Frankie...YOU have more time on the Z-Wreck than most anyone here. The Mazeratti GT and the Doc describes it, " Our best direct guitar to speaker amplifier with the highest gain ever from a Z amp"... Would you say the Wreck is a high gain amp? Thanks~ mt ps...I can't wait for mine either...but..I guess I'll have too! Thanks for the info...It's just that I never played the Mazeratti GT. Sounds like the GT goes into higher gain territory, Iv'e also read people compare it to the Monza. I wouldn't say the Wreck is a high gain amp, really. Just a great fat juicy tone machine, that seemed impossible to get a bad tone out of it......From what I heard Brad Paisley is doing the Wreck demo, I can't wait to hear it. Hope he does some humbucker stuff too....being a tele guy and all. I plopped down my dead presidents down for mine. ;D I'm hoping to use less effects with it, and man up a little and go old school. Maybe just a little reverb, and a boost, probably my Flying Dragon. More of a pure sound....Thanks for writing !

(quote) All this anticipation with not much information is nuts!....but I love it! ;D haha I know, I keep checking back for the demo ! I was pretty sure Doc mentioned it was ready.I'm sure it will be worth the wait !

I've also read people compare it to the Monza. Gainwise they are similar, but the two amps have a different vibe. My guess is that the GT is getting more of its juice from the output tubes. It would be a mistake to think of the GT is a bigger Monza.

There's a YouTube on here somewhere showing Greg somebody doing a Trainwreck demo - certainly seemed high gain with his Les Paul cranked, but YMMV

When I was at Z fest There was a Guy who played a TELE with Black Horned rimmed Glasses??? He was letting it rip! I know it was on TEN!!! I was sitting in front of it and It was not the Gain say like My SRZ however it was very creamy and he was using the Volume to control the rhythm parts then letting it go full open for leads, no pedals. Phil most likely has a Video? ;D The Z wreck was impressive, I cant see seeling my Ray or my SRZ for one, But, I may just buy one, The wreck was being used with a 2x12 cab loaded with I think a V30 and or GH30? It was great !!! Can't wait to see them rolling into stores!
