I just got my Stang Ray head yesterday - played for 6 hours non-stop today... And I am still in shock - what an amp - it's going to be with me forever, no question about it...
But that said - my question is for any of you that may own a Stang Ray & a Monza... Or if you have played both or had them as past amplifiers: How does the overall volume of the Monza compare to the Ray? Not talking crunch, gain - or how manageable the volume is... Just when playing at stage level - are they close? The Ray is the best clean amp I have, but would love to have the dirty side be somewhat equal in volume... And be a Dr Z amp... <--- !!! As a reference if it helps, I'm running the Ray at 4 with no B/L - or at 6 with 2 clicks of the SABL (stand alone B/L) and using RC or EP to boost when desired... I'm interested in the Monza because I like loud & I like attitude - I can make it work, but won't have a chance for a test drive first. So your help is most appreciated... THANKS in advance for your responses - tom

Check out the Z fest You Tube Video of Matt, Marc and Myself... Thats my dream amp! you're hearing ;D That's a Proto type of a 2 ChANNEL Stangray Monza, I own a Stangray and its' an amp I will always have especially being an 08' anniversary model and in red but the Monza is So sweet but it's kind of a one trick amp to me<<< I would use it for the gain and sustain but my Ray is as clean and powerful as my 67' All original Super Reverb, Its amazing it's way louder than 30 watts! HEE HEE! I tried a 1x12 monza at a local dealer and it had a bad Microphonic Squeal??? Bad pre tube?? something wrong shipping?? I dont know but they sound amazing and it was loaded with my fav speaker the G12H30!!! I'm looking for a used Red 1x12 combo until the DR puts out that 2 amps in 1 BOX I'll continue to use a headbone and pack two amps Jamie

Drew has the original prototype, I'm sure he'd tell you how cool it is.

Hold on ;D He only has the one proto which was the original Stangray/GT which I'm sure is the original concept revisited with the Stang/Monza. I dunno who has the latter. Maybe Drew played it at Z-Fest and could tell you if it was different at all. Drewby? Where you be?

Ray and Monza, that's the ticket! I've had a Ray for several years, love it but, there are times when I really don't need such a clean amp. Tried a Ghia but it was too clean and loud for me. Tried a Monza based on Forum reviews and I couldn't be happier. I haven't played any of my other Z amps since I got the Monza.
