Okay, I got a very nice Celestian Blue in the mail earlier this week. Looks like its never been installed. I had a read a post that this is not a good speaker for a Monza because it breaks up too much. Well . . . I installed this speaker in a 1x12 I have in the house and was playing around at very low volumes. Patty and I worked out some parts for songs for Sunday morning and I was thinking how good and tight the speaker sounded. I could not imagine this speaker and amp combo being bad together. Patty stepped outside to call our kids in for the night and turned up the volume on my guitar. Oh MY! You should have heard the noise coming from me! lol It was way way way way over the top. Most notes were indistinguishable from each other, it was hilariously broken up! This didn't prevent me from playing with if though. Patty came back in and announced she could hear "that" through the door without a problem (I smiled, volume is a good thing right?). Okay, back to the blue. I rolled my volume and drive on the amp back to around 9 o'clock (brake lite was on 4 through all of this) and low and behold it sounded really cool. I've never had a blue before and was surprised how punchy and crisp it sounded at the lower gain settings. I'll have some uses for this for sure. In general, probably too much of a good thing for the higher gain settings but sound nice cleaned up. Need to try this with my Maz Jr next!! Todd

The Blue is my favorite speaker for cleans and semi-cleans, but not at all for higher gain tones. However, have you ever tried a Gold? You lose a little (but just a little) of that Blue magic when playing clean, but it handles overdriven tones like a champ.
If you like that rich, round tone you get from the Blue, the Gold will give you that and is way more versatile.

The alternative is to buy a British Series Weber Blue alnico with a high wattage rating (20 or 30 watts). Great speakers; I really like my Weber Blue Pup (the 10") in my Monza.

I ran my 1X10 combo into my Avatar/CBlue 12, and I actually like the way the Red Fang 10 sounds. And, its so easy to just slap that little amp into the trunk and schlup it to a gig.

I think that blue I just go will stay in my 1x12 for days when I feel like making pretty sounds with my amps, that would not be today though lol Todd

At 15 watts...and knowing how fierce the Monza is, and if you play as loud as me, I would fear that the Monza would blow that puppy in one night ! Saying that, I got a Gia with a blue, and love the speaker. Keep that brake-lite on !

The blue is put away safely for those days when I want some sweet clean out of my Maz Jr or Michael Mini Z

I like the Blue with the MAZ Jr a LOT, both clean and overdriven. Maybe not so much with heavy distortion, but I'm not really a heavy distortion guy. I'm thinking about a Gold for my Z28, though--and as a second cab if I ever want to run either amp as a 2x12.
