Kind of inspired by that Les Paul thread (and a bit of boredom) I decided to weigh some of my guitars. My tele and my PRS both weigh in at 8.6lbs +/- 0.2lbs. Anyone else bored and wants to go weigh their axes?

We started weighing guitars at a G&L Jam 5 years ago to see who had the heaviest and lightest G&L. We used a 10 lb. postage scale. Naturally, we started weighing everything. I didn't keep track of all of them, but here are some of the results . . .
G&L S-500 (Alder).....................9 lbs. G&L Skyhawk Sig. (Maple)..........8 lbs. 9 oz. American Strat (Ash).................8 lbs. 4.2 oz.
G&L S-500 (Alder).....................8 lbs. 4.2 oz. Gibson Les Paul Standard...........8 lbs. 4 oz Guild Bluesbird..........................8 lbs. 3.6 oz. American Tele HS......................8 lbs. 1.4 oz. G&L Comanche..........................8 lbs. PRS SC-245..............................8 lbs. American Deluxe Strat (Alder).....7 lbs. 15.9 oz. G&L ASAT Classic (Ash)..............7 lbs. 15.3 oz. Fender USA HSS Strat................7 lbs. 14.3 oz. Fender AD V-neck Strat..............7 lbs. 13.9 oz G&L Legacy...............................7 lbs. 12.9 oz. G&L Legacy...............................7 lbs. 11.8 oz. G&L ASAT Classic S/H.................7 lbs. 11.5 oz. Gibson Les Paul Studio................7 lbs. 9.6 oz. G&L ASAT Special S/H ................7 lbs. 8.1 oz. Fender CS Custom Classic...........7 lbs. 7 oz. G&L Legacy Hardtail...................7 lbs. 5.2 oz. ASAT Classic S/H.......................7 lbs. 5.1 oz. PRS Singlecut............................7 lbs. 4.4 oz. ASAT Classic Custom..................7 lbs. 1.8 oz. PRS McCarty Korina....................6 lbs. 11.1 oz. G&L ASAT Z-3...........................6 lbs. 4 oz.
It was interesting to see the variance between similar guitars. That 9 lb. S-500 was a special order with a requested weight under 8 lbs. Kinda missed that one by a smidge. We also ran across a G&L Legacy Semi-Hollow that came in right around 9 lbs. Good thing that piece of ash was hollowed out!

Anyone else bored and wants to go weigh their axes? Matt are you sure your tele weighs that much? JMO But I consider anything over 7.5 lbs ( with the exception of a LP ) Heeavvy... I have some expensive Fender tele's and some in-expensive Fender tele's . I personally have never weighed any of my guitars. I judge by how it feels. My Custom shops have a designated weight so I compare things to that. Same with my Strats - Those are probably 7-7.5 .. Now I have a Lentz HSL coming that I am told will only weigh 6-6.5 .. Bill is making me a Crook - He said right in the neighborhood of 7lbs. I just can't even imagine an 8 1/2 pound tele JMO

My PRS Mira weights 5.75 lbs and sounds like it weights a ton!

Play a Jazz bass for a few hours, after that, no guitar is heavy. My R9 is 8Lbs 1oz.

I used a digital bathroom scale. It seemed to vary by about +/- 0.2 lbs. I guess maybe my tele is hard ash and not swamp ash. It does feel about the same weight as my PRS.

My R9 is 7 lbs 10 oz. An 09' 50th anniversary in Rustburst 1 of 59. It's light and almost like Tobacco SB meets Cherry SB ,Flame meets Quilt & Zebra Burstbuckers. ;D VEry light for a R9 usually 9lbs...
