Greetings,
Well, I finally got off the road long enough to install some NOS Siemens EL-34s in my 6545. I started originally with the tubes at 37mA per tube. Nice sound but kind of strident on the high end. After a week of playing I biased them up at 35mA (430V Plate) per tube and absolutely love the sound. Great balance of Bass, Mid, and Treble on the KT-45 side. And the SRZ side has the smoothest overdriven sound that I have ever heard. I can not believe how much of a difference I was hearing from 2mA change.
On a related note I found my GT-E34LS #6 were biased at 17ma and 20mA respectively. Very low bias for these tubes. THough they were near the end of their life cycle.

How do you bias the current on these amps? I know there's a balance pot to balance the bias voltage but do you have to change a fixed resistor to change the current?

No changing out resistors. Just turn the pot till the bias meter reads the current you are looking for.
