The second picture in the new auction is the exact same pic used by a person who sold the "#1" 6545 a few weeks ago. I know because I bid on it. I haven't e-mailed the new auction but there can only be a single #1 6545 and using the same pic? I am leary...
Be sure to contact the seller and have them send FRESH pics of the the 6545 including close-ups of the documents and try to get the story on how they are selling a "new" amp that sold on eBay a few weeks ago as a "used" amp!

I threw a bid on this, to save it to my Ebay files. I didn't know that it had only just been auctioned, however. I'd be interested in more details either way.

I placed a bid on this amp before I read this thread. I looked in the completed listings and all I could find was a 6545 that claimed to #2

eBay only keeps completed items for 30 days and it first sold about 5 weeks ago. Be sure to contact the seller to see if this is the same amp because I know for a fact that is the same picture used in the other auction by a different seller and that there can't be 2 "first ever 6545 made".

I'm always leary of Ebay postings anyway for expensive gear. Just like the StingRay mystery over a recent StingRay posted for sale with "doctored" pictures.

DANGER! looking at their feedback detail, this seller has been inactive since 2001. This does seem very fishy.

Possibly a hijacked eBay account...seems to be getting more common these days unfortunately.

Does anyone have the ebay auction # for the 6545 that sold 5 weeks ago?
I am the "winning" (?) bidder on this item and I'm trying to get some background info to figure out whether the auction is legit. A shout out to drunrun for alerting me to the 5-year inactivity shown on the seller's account and this site, and to you other "Z" men for the warning info provided here about the prior auction.

Hey guys, I bid on this thing and got a 2nd chance offer right away. Obviously aircooled (the winning bidder) hasn't renigged yet, so this seller is definitely fraudulent. Looks like some of you bid as well, anyone else get 2nd chance offers? nate2480? zimmer?

Lot's of crap going down on Ebay lately. This week I bid on a Marshall 1960B, from an owner in my town...thought it'd be nice to save shipping, just drive over and pick up. I lost the bid, but found another similar (1960AX) which I bought. ANYWAY, I got an email yesterday offering me the original cab at the price I bid. In part, it reads: Hi there, Firstly please excuse my delayed replies, for the time being I am in a worldwide consultative engineering program at Oxford University in United Kingdom, so I cannot stay online as often as I usually do. After all, this turned out to be rather a business trip. I began this offer because the winner of my auction withdrew his bidding(his daughter was having some health problems). The price (according with ebay) will be the last bid amount with shipping and insurance taxes included but i think that we can agree at the following price : US $525.00. In order to start the process I will need your full name and address for shipping: First name: Last name: Address: City: Zip Code: Country:Total baloney. His account was opened June 14 2006 showing Singapore as his location. I forwarded it to Ebay so they can investigate.

Well, I was the hi bidder and this auction turned out to be a fraud. Here's the answer I got from the seller when I questioned him as to whether he owned the amp:
"This is my item, and i tried to sold it about a year ago, not 5 weeks. I'll provide you with additional photos as soon as i get back from business trip, within next 10-14 days, i dont have problems with that. If you like - you can pickiup this item as well."
Pickup would be the way to go -- I'm in Ohio, he is in Indonesia. I reported him to ebay and they responded that they couldn't link his email address to an active ebay account, and that I should not pay the invoice he sent me, which was also fraudulent. So he evidently hijacked a dormant account and the whole thing was a scam. Thanks again to drunrun for alerting me to it and to this site.

Indonesia has the highest incidences of credit card attempted fraud at GT. Actually, over 90% of all attempted transactions are bogus from Indonesia at GT.
