How well will the z28 take reverb? There is no effects loop on this amp so reverb would have to be infront of the amp. I am worried that the reverb tails would get distored when cranking the volume of the z28. I mean rule of thumb is reverbs and delays should go after the preamp and not before it.
I am just curious if others of you are doing this and how you are doing this.

I have yet to try my Danelectro SpringKing in to the Z-28, but I have used one with all kinds of amp and it was fine. I had a lot of fun running it infront of a compressor. You get all the reverb sound at the a same level. Kinda neat.

I haven't found a pedal that doesn't work well with my Z28. I use a Holy Grail but then I'm not big on reverb.

I used to be. It was a must have, but after hearing the difference between not having it while playing with other guitar players. I tend to believe I'll use it as a coloring tool for now on.

But remember my z28 wont be played clean as the volume is on 6 and bass and treble are on 6,
So my preamp will be distorting anything plugged into it, I dont want delays and reverbs to be distorted. I tried a Ibanez analog delay once infront of my carvin legacy and the dleays were all distorted, sounded way better in the loop.
I am not using the z28 for cleans but for crunch and more crunch

Well, I should be playin my guitar.
This is one reason I'll choose to use it as a coloring tool. I kinda like the sound of reverb when distorted for brief moments and the same for clean. This way it stands out alot like using delay sparingly.
Now to your crunch and more crunch. I don't know how much crunch your looking for but I never used my reverb on my Maverick's lead channel as it cluttered up the creamy blissful gain structure the Maverick has. It's the only Mesa I like and man does it sound good through a vintage greenback 4x12 cabs.

I have the HG and I think it does a fine job. I like reverb, can't play without it, and I notice esp on my delay and reverb that Z28 is very subtle and gives more detail that I've heard before. I had to rollback the knob a bit on the HG becasue thru the Z28 it sounded much wetter than before.

I'm looking to get a HG as well. The videos on EH's site have it cranked, and it sounds ultra wet. Can you dial it back and get some nice Fendery reverb?

I play with it in about the 1 o'clock position, more than that and it starts getting really really wet sounding. It does a passable job replicating Spring Reverb. I don't use the hall setting and the "Flerb" is useless IMHO

THis is the best Reverb pedal I found under $300 and I have't A/B with a Sans-Amp reverb yet. So it might be as good as that on also. Just so you know it has real spring inside. The volume isn't a output volume. It allows you to select the amount of signal that slams the spring. This works well and has alot to do with the over all sound you want. The tone is not the tone of your signal, but the over all tone of the reverb, and the reverb nob? You can get what you want. On top of that. Do you know any other reverb pedal you can stomp on and get that crashing reverb sound. I don't. I own two of these. One I use and the other is in the box just incase. 5yrs of playing this one in the pic. No issues. Some Dano stuff is cheap and sounds ok and other stuff is simply great. The reverb and tape delay come to mind as some of the best.

Very cool, thanks for the link. Do you have any clips? I'm interested in the pedal.

We recorded this using the Spring King for the reverb sound. There are alot of effects in the overall recording, but you can hear the reverb.

I went ahead and ordered the Marshall Reflector. I had one before and it sounded better than the Boos reverb pedal.

I find that the rever before tha amps preamp sounds horrible, the reverb gets to distorted.

I use a HG in front of my Z28. I can only put it up to 9 or 10AM and it sounds pretty authentic at that level. After that it gets too wet and sounds like a pedal, not a tank.

I think at propper times distorted reverb sounds cool, but not all the time.
