Its seems they are too loud for bedroom practice even for me which is basement practice. And they see to quiet to play in a band practice.
I mean when I have the thing cranked(when wife and kids are gone) its loud but I wouldn't say hey lets go play a club without mic'ing it.
but the other day my buddy was jammin on the the z28 in my basement while I was upstaris with the door to basement closed and I could definitely hear the amp pretty loud though the hardwood floors.
anyone else have this complaint? I recently ordered a weber miniMass to use with the z28 when I am home practicing. I am hoping it doesnt suck to much of the tone.

i have found that for a true "bedroom" practice amp you need a 1/2 or 1 watt amp. even those can get kinda loud if you crank em all the way. you could try and have 2 different cabs: one cab with one "quiet" speaker that breaks up quickly for bedroom use and the other cab being a zbest 2x12 loaded with 2 eminence swamp thangs to get maximum volume out of the amp for playing with the band. i've got a z28 (my favorite Z) and this is the 2 amp setup that i currently use for loud or quiet playing. but also believe that to have the best tone out of an amp you must have volume hope this helps. andrew

Swamp thangs, I had one of those before I used in a randall isolation cab, very dark speaker.
but why would you use a 2x12 with swampthangs( 300 watts) with a 22 watt head?
Right now I get a killer tone with my avatar openback vintage 1x12 witha 75 watt weber alnico blue dog. I am just hoping the mini mass will work well without killing the tone of the amp

I can't talk for the MiniMass, but I have the MicroMass and Ted says it will handle the 25 watts although his site says 15watts. I don't really push the amp to hard throug it.
The thing I notice more is added compression when I run it at 8pm+ levels.
If you read my other post about the 2x10. I was playing w/ guitar player 50watt Soldano 2x12, a badass 4x10 Ampeg Bass cab with 400 watts pushing it, and drums. No problem!

My Z-28 through one Celestion Gold gets plenty loud with volume to spare, at least on stage. Not sure about in the crowd but I imagine they can hear me. As far as playing around the house, my RxES actually is more controllable at low volumes than my Z-28, even though it's twice as powerful
