My Z28 is on the way! I have been researching amps for a while now and decided Dr Z was the way to go. I was leaning towards a Route 66, but decided it was too much volume for me and decided on a Z28.
I have a 1x12 Avatar Greenback cab, and I just can't wait to plug this sucker in!
I only have one problem now. I have a sinking feeling my Marshall DSL401 is going to sound like dogs@*t next to this thing. I was planning on running a stereo rig with the two amps, but we'll just have to see if the Marshall kills the tone!
I literally couldn't sleep last night after I got it, I just can't stand the wait. 3 days. Arghh!!

If your a Marshall guy you are going to bum out unless you get a good pedal in front of it like a BB pre-amp or Keeley BD-2. Don't get me wrong it sounds great by itself but with a good pedal in front it sounds REALLY good. I just ordered a Weber 1225 (greenback) speaker for mine but the Tonemaster cab I'm playing it through sounds great too.
Welcome aboard you have made a wise decision.
BTW the Marshall will sound like sh%$it next to it no matter what.

"Psyched out of my mind" and you should be. It's a fine amp and you'll love it.
I don't know what to tell you about the Marshall. Maybe sell it. I know that might be hard. I think I have a buyer for my Maverick, but scare to call him.
Speaking of calls your news is promting me to make another call.

Ok, you'll do just fine. I also run a FB-2 and let me tell you. You can dime the amp and and use all 18db's of boost and it will take it. Well, mine does anyway. I don't run it like this but I had to see. I don't believe in worring or babying things. I get right to the root of it. This amps roots are deep!!!!!!
I also couldn't waite to get it. It came and I was happy. Then all of a sudden. I had to have the matching cab and then I started all over again. Everyday for two or so weeks.
Z-28's rule!!!!
What color did you get?

It's a Blonde, like my wife!
One of the things I'm looking forward to is being able to use my Tele again. It just sounds like crap thru my Marshall. And my Strat really only sounds good thru the FB2. Les Paul into Marshall, always good.
I'm hoping this Z28 will be a tad more versatile, I know it will be.

It has always been a given rule of mine.
If a amp doesn't work with a Tele or Strat than it is a piece of crap and needs to be removed from the line up ASAP!!!!!

Congrats man! Like you, I'm waiting on pics and needles for my Z28 Head and Z Cab. I wish my wait was only 3 days!
Oh well, it gives me some time to sell this Matchless.
Karma to you, from one Z28 newbie to another.

My Z28 arrived today! First impressions:
Holy Crap this thing is loud for "22 watts". It's twice as loud easily as my Marshall DSL401. I put it on 5 and my kids were freaking out.
My Strat sounds UNBELIEVABLE thru this thing. No stomp boxes, just straight up. I played the Wind Cries Mary, and oh man, oh man....
Then I played Run Like Hell thru it, with the mega delay. I have never heard the repeats so clearly from the delay pedal, mind blowing.
Plugged in the Les Paul, still trying to get a hold of this one. Getting a pretty good tone straight up, but with the OCD, it's sounding a little boxy, I think if I futz with it I'll find a good setting though.
The louder I crank it the better it sounds for sure. SO much tone and clarity. Just the sound of the pick grabbing the strings is amazing.
I've never owned an amp this good before.
Any suggestions on dialing in a nice clean LP tone?
I think I'm gonna sell my Tele, I just can't get a tone I like from it anymore. Sounded super boxy no matter what I did on it today. Frustrating.

"""Any suggestions on dialing in a nice clean LP tone?"""""
Turn the bass and treble way down, and the volume up. That's the best you can do.
