I ended up getting the Dr Z Z-28. Went to my Dr Z dealer and tried out the Maz senior head, Maz hunior 2x10, and Carmen Ghia.
I ended up geting the Z-28 just somethin about that amp and how well it cleans up with a roll off the guitars volume and how well it sounded with a RC Booster and Fulltone OCD.
I didnt like the 2x10 combo so if I ever get Maz jr it will be 1x12.
I liked the Carmen Ghia alot also funny because the speaker was a vintage 30 and I thought that they used GH30s with those combos.
But anyway I love my Dr Z Z-28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am using it with a avatar vintage open back 1x12 with 75 watt alnico Blue dog and it sounds awesome!!!!

I agree. I have the Maz and it is a very different sound but still Z sounding like everyone says. The Z28 just has that special "something" about it. It seems like more and more people are realizing that. It took me a long time before I caved into the GAS for another Z and I was leaning towards the Carmen Ghia but I decided the Z28 would be a further tonal distance from the Maz. I'm sure glad I did because I didn't have one around here I could try, I just relied on this forum as a guide. These guys are real smart on here and spot on if you ask me. Lot's of great advice on here and everyone is more than eager to help out a fellow muZician.

Besides all the little thing the Zman does and the ones he doesn't do. I know the secret to why you guys feel this way about the Z-28.
It's simple: 6V6's!!!!!!!!!!!
If he designs a 35 watt "ULTRA-Z" I will put my name down for one ASAP....
For you guys thinking I pulled "Ultra-Z" out of my ___. Here is a very quick note on the "Ultra-Z"
The ULTRA-Z is a supercharged and intercooled Z. ULTRA-Z's had badges on the sides under the Z28 badges.
Yo, SR.Z, you get that??? A 35 watt 6v6 Z-28 ='s The Ultra-Z

The good doctor has hinted at a new 6V6 offering perhaps in time for the Z-Fest this summer. Prototype, and all that.
