Well, I'm still experimenting with different speakers to see what works best for me with the Monza 1 x 10 combo. I'm still really trying to like the amp, and hoping something will brighten it up just a bit for my taste. It is such a dark amp with humbuckers, at least to my ears! And I find that the Brake Lite really adversely affects the tone of this amp versus other Z's that I own. I tried a Celestion Gold and went back to the Red Fang. Today, I put in a Weber British Series Blue Pup, 30 watt, alnico, 8 ohm speaker. I think I like it a lot. A bit more highs than the Red Fang, which is what I was looking for. Will keep breaking it in and checking to see if this is "the one".

After more playing, I've decided that the Weber Blue Pup is "the one" for me! Definitely provided some of the additional top end that I needed, and the bass notes also have more definition. It's staying in the Monza.

The Weber Blue Pup ceramic definitely gives it a slightly brighter feel.
I don't have an AlNiCo to check.

My Blue Pup is an alnico.

That's two people have recommended the Alnico Blue Pup to brighten up the Monza. Mine will arrive a a few weeks, so looking forward to hearing that. It'll have to run the Ghia too, but the Tone control is SO good on that amp, I don't have any worries Pete
