just curious has anyone else tried this? i think its pretty rad sounding! kinda embodies the best things that the z28 and the maz 18 have to offer IMHO.

You will loose a lot of bass in the process. For me the yellowjackets are more of a novel idea that is not that successful in practice. One of the last bands I was in the guy had a fender amp and decided to try the yellowjackets. He got totally lost in the mix, he just could not cut any more with those in place. I tried them in 2 amps and really lowered the volume of the amp but tonewise I felt I took a step back. I was able to get gain at a lower level, but the big trade off in tone was just to great. If they are working for you then hats off, but like zdogma mentioned, keep an eye on your warranty :-)

Doc called them firecrackers! When they first came out I bought a pair. Didn't like 'em.

I tried them in a Route 66 for a VERY short time. Later the Doc told me not to use them as they will void warranty.
In my trials it did a few things:
1) Minimum volume of the amp was louder. (I guess due to class A) 2) Maximum volume of the amp was queiter (as expected) 3) A few settings around noon on the volume yeilded some nice EL-84 sounds. 4) Tone controls seemed to have less effect on the tone.
However, I got rid of them due to the warranty issue.
