Has anyone compared the two?
Is the Ghia as dark as the Monza, or is it brighter in tone?

I currently have both the Monza 1x10 Combo and Ghia head. I have played the Ghia head through the 1x10 red fang and that sounded fantastic. I think the Ghia is a little brighter and maybe more flexible in ways. For example, the Ghia works as an easier pedal platform IMO. I am happy with both amps, but for different reasons. The Monza to me is great as I can just plug a guitar straight in and it just has the ZZ Top grind with no effort at all. The Ghia has less grind, but some nice headroom, where you can work with some nice subtle dynamics. I would say both amps have great feel and dynamics. I should mention the Monza is quite a bit louder then the Ghia as well.

I just did and A/B comparison of the Monza to my Ghia. I like the Monza, it has more gain with less clean headroom. The overall sound of the Monza was more mid-range focused, meaning, the Ghia had stronger/deeper lows and the highs were a little more crisp, wider bandwidth in general. The Monza was NOT louder than my Ghia. The Ghia wide open was louder than the Monza wide open (through the same open back 1x12) by roughly 6db (C weight). The tone control is more like a typical high frequency roll off.
The Monza is a cool amp and the 1x10 combo would be a very fun little amp. I won't be switching from the Ghia to a Monza though.

Well I will have to agree with Plexed......and disagree with M. Bartee......I have a 1 x 10 Monza and a 1 x 10 Ghia, both with the Red Fang in them......My Monza is waaaaaaay louder than my Ghia!!
Having said that, I think the difference is the package. Plexed and myself have the 1 x 10's. Maybe Mr. Bartee's head's through a 1 x 12 cab changes things.......I dont know.

We measured the levels with an SPL meter, not our perception of louder. This was through the same 12" V30 in my combo cabinet with the Monza head sitting on top of the Ghia. I like the Monza and would like to have one to compliment my Ghia.
