Celestion Century neo with mine. Tried several others, and I always came back to that one.

Either a stock Z 2X10 cab and/or a Z 1X12 with a Celestion G12H30. The amp sounds best using both cabs but if I have to pick just one the G12H30 sounds really good with the 28. Jason

Mine sound sounds good with just about anything. Great with a stock ZBest; I like it with my 1 x V30 cab too. Just ordered a Weber 12F150 to emphasize the Fender side so I'll keep you posted on how that works out...

Right now I have a 2x12 cab with blues, how do they compare to the weber alnico speakers?
Thanks
Evan

I can't help on your last question as I don't know the weber speakers as well as many others on this forum. I just give you my take on the speaker thing in general. The bass end on these amps can be tricky for some of us. If you like the bass the way it is stay with the 2x12, I am using a Tone Tubby 2x10 but also really like the Z 2x10 as well. I have another Tone Tubby 1x12 with alnico that also sounds good. The 2x10's seem to have a little extra dimension to them for me, but many guys do just fine with a variety of 1x12's. The old standby Vintage 30 is worth a try as well. For me the smaller 2x10 and 1x12 seem easier to control.

I have a 2x12 with Scumback speakers that sounds pretty good.
I did write to the Dr. asking for a speaker suggestions (when I was thinking of switching) and got this reply:
Z Best cabs come standard with a Celestion Vintage 30 on top and a Celestion G12H30 on the bottom. They are normally wired in parallel making either an 8 or 4 ohm load...depends on if 2 8ohm speakers or 2 16ohm speakers are used. With a Z 28 you may want to try a Greenback in place of the Vintage 30. Makes for a cool combination. Thanks, Brent Ferguson Sales Manager, Dr. Z Amplification

Rick, I'll be anxious to hear what you say about the 12F150 Weber. I have one laying here at the house that I took out of my Ampeg. It was nice in there but a little farty on the low end. I never tried it with the Z28, thinking the bass out of that amp would rip that Weber to shreds....

Thanks Brent! I have a Greenie in my 1x12 combo, so nice to get some backing from the good Dr. himself! Brandon

I like the sound of the G12H30 better than the greenback. Better spread and lows are more 'there'.

hey just wanted to know what speakers everyone is using with their z28? Evan Being an old Fender hound, and given the Fender-like voicing of the Z-28, I've gone with the Jensen-like route. Of all the C12N-like speakers I've tried, the EMI Red, White, & Blues get closest to my old original C12N... I play in a road-house style band (think Delbert)...my other guitar player uses an old DR...the Z-28/RW&B is a wonderful fit. I'm not a big Celestion fan...that big dip between 1.5-2k minimizes the very frequencies that contribute to a great sounding traditional Fender speaker (I come from using a '64 Deluxe Reverb and '66 Pro Reverb with old Jensens). In fact, I've pulled the old speakers from both these amps, stashed them safely away, and replaced with RW&B's now). Another cool speaker (again showing my Fender tonality bias) is the Eminence Legend 125-8. Kind of like a C12N with slightly rounder highs. Very nice... I'm runnin' one in my Swart Atomic Tone combo... love it in that application.
