Just got an EZG-50 112. What an amp! I can't wait to play this thing live. I've been after that Matt Schofield, big, crisp, clear, percussive, very slightly chewy tone, and I think this may be it.
I had a question about the reverb for you EZG-50 owners. Does Dwell control the length of the reverb? It seems that even with the Dwell and Mix control very very low, almost off in fact, the reverb still rings for quite a long time. Is that just the nature of the beast? I use only a tiny bit of verb, and sometimes none at all if the amp doesn't have it, and in that case use some very slight 250ms or so long delay from a pedal. Seems like no matter what I do with the verb in the EZG-50, it's a bit overwhelming. Weird? Something sound wrong here?
Thanks for listening.

The reverb in mine is wonderfully controllable, the dwell affects the length of the reverb decay, the mix controls the volume in the signal. You should be able to fade it out completely with the mix knob at minimum. Something odd going on if not I'd say.

thanks. I can turn it off completely by turning the mix all the way off. My issue is that if I turn it on even just the smallest amount so that I can hear it, and even with the Dwell control at a very low setting, the reverb lasts several seconds, a very long decay. Seems odd. That can't be right, right?

i know what you're talking about. the same with mine! even turned on a little the decay is pretty long... i would not say it lasts several seconds but it's definitely longer than other built in reverbs. right know i got my turned of completely and i'm using a EH holy grail plus for the reverb sounds...
maybe we both have something odd going on in our EZG's but for me it's the nature of the beast as you name it :-))
and please don't get me wrong: i do not dislike the EZG's reverb, but for me kind of music (mainstream pop/rock, indie) it's just not very suitable...
all the best from germany, frank

Where you have the "Pre" control also affects the verb, at least on my head. If I max out the "Pre" control, the reverb increases in volume. Maybe try lowering the pre and boosting the post.
These sounds are cool with me and I LOVE the reverb of the EZG-50, it is the best part of the amp for me. Maybe I just like reverb more than you guys!

I also am experiencing with my amp:
- any reverb at all still dwells quite a while - turning the reverb mix up high causes almost all the sound to crap out
Neither aspect concerns me much because I like a bit of dwell and I have no need to crank my reverb up beyond a quarter but I can understand how it would bother others and I would be curious to know why it's as it is.

The pre drives the front end including the reverb harder I guess. Makes sense, just adjust the post to balance it out.

I'll try to see if the pre affects the amount of reverb, but that seems very odd. You don't want to have the amount or quality of reverb you're getting to drive your decision about what kind of tone (clearer or more driven) you're achieving. Seems totally backwards. That can't be right, can it? Where you have the "Pre" control also affects the verb, at least on my head. If I max out the "Pre" control, the reverb increases in volume. Doesn't the dwell knob actually control the input gain to the reverb tank? I think labeling it "dwell" makes us think it should act like a length control (similar to a rack reverb unit). I would imagine that it also comes after the "Pre" control, which would make them both have a similar effect on the reverb tank.
